Night before Keeneland! — 6 years ago
Kelley’s Pinot Gris spends almost 3 weeks on the skins with foot treading once each day. You can imagine the resulting flavor explosion. Think cranberries and crushed wild flowers and a refreshing mineral water finish. This is the type of rosé that can stand up to a full flavored dish! 😋💖 — 6 years ago
D*** good Barbera—bright, acidic, and bursting with cherries and spice. Lovely with food — 7 years ago

Renwood Winery 2013 Jack Rabbit Flat Zinfandel
Strong aromatics of black currant and anise are woven together with crushed raspberry, sweet cream, and hints of cedar. On the palate, the layered complexity of this wine is complimented by its excellent weight and balance, making it a signature Jack Rabbit Flat Zinfandel. Fresh and teeming with black cherry and hazelnut, this Zinfandel will evolve beautifully in the bottle for years to come.
100% Zinfandel.

Juicy. Plump and juicy. Delicious fruit nose and palate. Some spicy vanilla and pepper to round things out. Yummy. — 11 years ago
Strawberry on the nose. Big, fruit leather, hint of violet, and subtle minerals, tart dry finish. — 6 years ago
Four day weekend. Gotta get it off to a good start. Been awhile since we had our 375ml of Ruinart.
The nose shows, ripe, slightly candied; black cherries, strawberries, kirsch cherries, rich, summertime watermelon, touch of orange citrus family blend, pomegranate juice, hints of fruit roll up & haunting apricots. Sea fossils & spray, a little bread dough, grey volcanics, chalky powder, orange, spring flowers with fresh & withering, red & pink rose pedals.
The palate is full & touch gummy/candied. Fruits are well extracted, deep, ruby; black cherries, blackberries, strawberries, kirsch cherries, rich, summertime watermelon, touch of orange citrus family blend, pomegranate juice, hints of fruit roll up & haunting apricots. Ghostly, not quite fruit brandy or fruit liqueur character, sea fossils & spray, a little bread dough, not quite medium, white spice with hints of palate heat, grainy, grey volcanics, chalky powder, orange, spring flowers with fresh & withering, red & pink rose pedals. The acidity lively and crisp. The round, well balanced & polish finish is always consistently satisfying and lingers for minutes.
Photos of; the House of Ruinart, Dom Thierry Ruinart, nicely light caves and rolling, hillside, Grand Cru Vineyard.
Not quite sure where “D” gets $83 when you can buy this all day at just under $65. — 6 years ago
Dark cherry and a dash of herbs, with a savory middle and finish, excellent concentration, and terrific with a duck breast with a beet sauce. — 7 years ago
Drank over 6 weeks opened in my fridge and it stayed fresh throughout. Richly layered aromas and flavors of chocolates, pistachio, green grapes, and honeydew melon with floral undertones. Savory but offset by some residual sugar. Sufficiently robust for the main course. Really nice. — 7 years ago

When you hike in the Finger Lakes, you can easily think you're in Burgundy or Alsace. The topography is very close and the climate is just a little more continental. So the choice of grape varieties follows naturally. Pear, apple, and a little pineapple fruit come across in this wine. It has some stony and steely minerality, but less than typical for this region. There's a lot of vanilla and butter, with smoke and oak. These latter elements are too strong in my opinion. And the acidity is a little too weak. If that and the fruit were stronger this would be on par with Chablis. So it's a little off balance. But I enjoyed it very much with a salmon salad. — 9 years ago
What a great vintage this turning out to be...the hot, dry(er) summer brought a nice balance of sugar and acid. This was wisely Merlot heavy (60%), lending to cherry notes. However, the Merlot is sturdy alto that allows the PV and CF to harmonize their tenor cords. This was from some delightful place between Rhone and the Right Bank :) Well done and a Superb Value at 22$ — 10 years ago

Just gorgeous—maybe my favorite yet from Kelley Fox. The old vines, elevation and pacific breeze of this site clearly contribute to an incredible elegance and transparency. Vibrant strawberry, rhubarb and black cherry with spice, forest floor and tilled soil. I don’t have enough experience to know how high end wine ages under screw cap but honestly it’s in a great place right now. — 6 years ago
