Big, mouth watering nose. Dark ripe berries, smoke, vanilla, cracked black pepper. A big wine that fills the mouth immediately but still refined and very elegant. Firm, chewy tannins carry through from start to a long finish. Cries out for smoked meats and strong, pungent cheeses. — 8 years ago

Another great "location" wine from Orin Swift. This one is a classic España red. A beautiful touch of Tempranillo/Rioja - very fruit forward; hints of dark berries and soft green apple finish. The wine finishes with a smooth red taste on the tongue - not too dry, just enough to keep you wanting more. For the price - this is an every day wine for sure! I could drink this alone!

E Is For España. E is the fourth release of the Locations wine from the Iberian locale. Phinney uses Garnacha, Tempranillo, Monastrell and Cariñena grapes grown all over the Peninsula. The locations for this wine include Priorat, Jumilla, Toro, Rioja and Ribera Del Duero. Aromas of currant produce an elegant first whiff of this incredibly dark wine. Layer in some tobacco, pepper and sweet oak and you have a nose worth remembering. It brings to mind great wine I’ve had from the varied regions, er, locations of Spain. The sip is lush with black fruit, and spiced with white pepper, mocha and a hint of vanilla. There is enough tannic grip here to tame a steak right off the grill. — 9 years ago

#wsetschool Deeply ruby coloured top level Rioja with large quantity of Graciano given it that deep intensity. Pronounced nose of black cherries, red currants and cranberries, with wet leaf notes. There are smoke and toast, cinnamon and cedar from its time in oak, and of course there are tertiary aromas from bottle ageing, like: tobacco, game, leather and dried fruits. This has medium (+) tannins and acidity and an excellent long finish. — 10 years ago

After a long day, I decided to open up some vino tonight! Wine of choice: a 2010 Tarima Hill. The grapes in this wine are the Monastrell grapes, which I'm not too familiar with. The wine is from the Alicante region of Spain , in which I am not too familiar with either. Since I am always interested in something new, I was very curious to try this wine out. If there was any doubt about the quality and taste of this wine, tasting this wine made me a huge fan! This is a great example of where a lovely bottle, matches the lovely wine inside. This wine is excellent, viva la España ! Color-Garnet Bouquet- a wonderful bouquet of dark fruits, coffee, caramel, vanilla and leather. Palate-dark fruits, cigar, spice, and milk chocolate leave you palate with a nice silky coating on a long finish. — 12 years ago
