Tasted blind, theme was either Napa Cult Wines or High End Australian, not told directly to keep us on our toes.
Deep to medium garnet red with brick edges. Dark attack on the nose with leather, bark, spices, a touch burnt and dates. As it aired out it gained some additional complexities with forest floor and more pepper. Solid acidity and well balanced with medium tannins (6/10). Quite a bit of red cherries on the palate with some earthy notes and a touch of cinnamon. A touch tart in the rear of the palate with some light tomato notes, mushrooms and gravel. Medium bodied with a long finish. Drink till 2019.
We thought this was most likely a Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Sauvignon led blend with some Shiraz from Australia. Additionally it has to be between 15 and 20 years old (so between a 2002 and 1997). Not bad for the first wine. — 8 years ago

My fav merlot so far! — 10 years ago
Fabulous wine with the amazing tropical fruit that you would expect from Petit Manseng, finished almost dry. One of the best white wines ever made in the state of Virginia. — 11 years ago
Vibrant fruit, blanched almonds, not so flor dominant. Develops interest on the finish.

Incredibly good! This is a young amontillado, some would call it amontillado fino, with 9 years in solera. The style is fresh, young, and flavorful. Beautiful light amber color with notes of orange peel, pecans, hazelnuts, a bit of toffee and some hints of yeast. Young amontillado doesn’t get any better than this. NV on Feb 12, 2019 — 6 years ago

The pale golden straw color is appealing, while the nose certainly isn’t scaring anyone away. Clean earth notes define the apple, papaya and lime aromas beautifully. The palate shows off-dry pear, apple and Meyer lemon flavors on a bed of acidity. Finishing long, it’s the earth and citrus that stays around after the sip. The wine’s body makes it a lot more versatile that just “salads and sipping.” Winemaker Markus Niggli recommends you pair it with anything off the grill. — 9 years ago
A very good bottle of wine and even better for the price. Price v quality makes it one of the best values in my opinion. — 10 years ago

Probably the BEST CF I have ever had! Screams of French finesse and fruit. Had the sophistication of a blend with the pristine persona of a single varietal. It has a long ethereally sweet finish interwoven into structured tannins and ample acidity. This was like an M5 ready for any road. Just bought two more for the cellar :) — 8 years ago
Very balanced fruit and smooth finish. Given the price, it's a pretty good value wine (R105/$8). — 8 years ago
Still solid red, only slightly bricking towards the rim. Nose is elegant, cedar and blackcurrant with a touch of menthol. Palate is smooth, beautiful weight and still mostly primary fruit; blackcurrants and plums with a hint of spice. A lovely bottle of well aged Aussie Shiraz. Top stuff. — 9 years ago
Lemon citrus based nose , no ML fermentation. Good amount of weight and structure ! — 10 years ago
Great balance of sweet nuttiness and cutting acid. — 11 years ago

A crisp and “minerally” PA White. Straw gold in color with a green hue. Aromas of pear, straw and lemon grass. Flavors of pear, fresh thyme, and slate. Zippy acidity. Really good. — 6 years ago
