Tres Girard Morey St. Denis Pinot Noir 2018
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. No formal notes due to the setting but I’m pleased to report that the 2018 “Très Girard” is positively delightful at this stage of its evolution. Still developing, there is a pleasant mix of dark and red fruit with earth and spice and enough structure to gracefully continue its evolution over the next 10 to 15 years. Les Vergelesses Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2022
This needs another couple of years. I’m drinking it on its fruit bc I wanted a pernand.
DO NOT POP and pour.
N: lovely cherry fruit. A hint of sweet cherry licorice. As it opens beautifully savory. A gorgeous hint of Blood.
P: sweet cherries. Dense. Good balance. Juicy. Great spice. As it opens, more integrated and savory.

Les Fichots Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2022
Another epic Fichots from Girard. Deep deep mid to late season cherry and glorious spice. Wow the fruit in 22 is so aromatically expressive at the moment. Just gorgeous. Stunning palate with deep deep fruit but also those fierce Fichot tannins. Juicy, silky and sweet but structured and epic. Wow the tannins. This needs mega air but this is a monumental Fichots. Tasting today and still a beast but has that absurd 22 fruit. I’d wait a decade at least. — 6 months ago

Dinner wine. So fine. Gorgeous plump reddish blackish fruit and supple texture. Nose is deep, rich and bright. Opulent and chiseled but more opulent than chiseled. So great. — a month ago

Clos du Roi 1er Cru Beaune Pinot Noir 2022
22’s having a moment now. This has glorious texture and mouthfeel and just takes over your palate with clear fruit and lovely spice. Out of the gates it’s raging. We will see if it closes up. As this opened the nose had dizzying spice and gorgeous, clear black cherry fruit. Unreal fruit density and sapidity. So close to a 9.5. — 2 months ago

22’s are having a moment now. Ripping their shirts off like a WWF wrestler. Man the fruit on the nose is pungent. Dark cherry, black cherry, black plum skin, just amazing. And classic Girard sous bois. Mint, tree bark and more. Palate is decadent and juicy with lovely amplitude and richness but also sappy density and purity. Really elegant and just raring to go out of the bottle. Great energy and let’s see what air does. — 2 days ago
