It has a funk at the end that I haven’t decided if I like it or not. But still, get red wine. — 6 years ago

Strong kick but great flavor. Heavy liquorish and dark fruit with a lot of tannin. A break from the norm can be rewarding. — 8 years ago

Absolutely delicious interpretation of the Susumaniello grape. Has a beautiful aroma of strawberries and blueberries on the pallet it has a nice viscosity and a lean balanced body. Overall nice acidity and long lasting finesse 🍷✨ Salute! — 6 years ago

Craziest primitivo I've had - lots of light fruit and acid balanced increasingly with depth as it opens up. Starts a bit light and almost out of balance/on one foot. Then gradually collects itself and becomes this crazy different wine with dark fruits that are light on, acid that is prominent and a backbone that balances all over time.

Giojale Gioia dell Colle Primitivo 2005

Typical apulian primitivo wine but it's been aged in bottle after time spent in barrels. Strong but with a round taste. At the beginning it was 15° but now at least 16-17°. The wine cellar exists no more and only a few bottles remain. — 8 years ago

Maybe just a touch sharp (might need air), but easy-drinking with dry fruit, and mild tannin and wood. Good value. Case-worthy. — 6 years ago

Gioia Del Colle Primitivo

Delightful, easy drinking primitivo. Really exciting on the nose: blackberry, tobacco and dark chocolate. Cinnamon white pepper, and Hungarian paprika are added on the palate (midpalate to finish), and the dark chocolate notes appear more as dark roast coffee on the palate. Score is lower than I would give it otherwise because it is a bit flabby for my taste. This makes it a good easy drinker though because it is very smooth. Acid is on the low side for the varietal and you really only get the tannins on the finish. Definitely one to buy again though. Good value at $20 and quite approachable for dinner party guests. — 7 years ago
