Initially nice with red fruits, opening up with more forest floor after about 15 mins. 30 mins later, the heat of the vintage comes out. So, really enjoyable, but only for a pretty narrow window of time. — 8 months ago

15 minutes, a bit sweet and concentrated aroma making me feel red fruits which is completely different from just opening. Much elegant compared with Bourgeois which was a bit juicy, I found now. A bit salty and spicy. Then found parsley like, should say mint flavor. Lots of complexity. Almost 1 hour, vintaged aroma or earthy, mushroom is coming. Cherry with sweetness. More than 1 hour, comfortable aroma. Acidity became a bit calm. 2 hours must be peak. Aroma was so fascinating! @1950, K-Ping - XH , 181101-181102 — 7 years ago

A little hot and disjointed at first, but a little air and bloomed very nicely. Some grass, red fruits, velvety texture. Very nice for a village — 10 years ago
Chez yes. In one hour that might be an open mouth, but right now it will have to settle for a lip to lip tag. — 12 years ago

Third 90 Ponsot bottle served blind. This is bright tawny and translucent. When compared to the CSD served before it, this is more masculine with a dark cherry nose that is tight for the first 4-5 hours. By the time it’s served, though, it’s opened up and comes on as a rich and very powerful glass of juice. In addition to the regular notes of bing cherry, dark earth and rhubarb, this adds some mocha and a little cherry cola as well. Has a Rousseau-like precision in its delivery. From where it started to where it ended ~9 hours after opening, this evolved and improved the most. Great experience! (Bday 8 of 12) — 4 years ago
This may go down as red wine of the year for me. Which given the time of year and upcoming events is High Praise indeed. But none the less reality. Epic nose. The unmistakable smell of a slaughterhouse over summer. Meat and blood. A huge hit of licorice, leather, and smoke and cherries. The Finish lasted nearly a minute, and had a Mossy granite tone to it that reminded me of climbing in the gunks in the fog. Amazing. So fortunate to have been asked to share this with great friends. #poolwine — 7 years ago
Good concentration. Nose of cherry, earth, herbs, and a hint of spice and chocolate. Rustic; great minerality. — 6 months ago

Slightly deeper ruby , slightly narrower pink , ruby rim . Deeper more concentrated riper , slightly more roasted , medicinal, mineral nose at first . Needs a bit of time to come together . Then darker , ripe cassis and red currant . Richer and riper on the palate , but still good balance , darker fruits , sweeter , touch of cassis , red currant and earthy mineral finish . This is quite a bit denser with reasonably good length , earthy mineral , dark cherry tinged finish. The riper deeper character comes across quite evidently , a bit marked by the vintage perhaps , very different from the other two. This does seem to come together in the glass with time ,it will get there eventually but needs more time . Better in 5 years and will drink well a further 10 or so . — 5 months ago
