I knew I was going to enjoy this immediately, but it took a 45 minute meander before it really got there. Modern, but maintains an authentic SuperTuscan style, if that can actually be a thing... suffice to say, I wouldn't call it international, but oak and ripe fruit make their presence known. Plush, dark fruit of a medium weight meets lively acidity, with a noticeable, but not imposing amount of tannin. The balance helps draw your focus to the secondary notes of Genoa and even Finocchiona, along with plenty of spices, and tertiary cedar and cocoa powder. — 8 years ago
I have to toot my own horn a little on the cork removal gymnastics I performed here. Magyver would have been proud. Big wet earth component, nose of Genoa salami and tobacco. A touch of spice and cherry. Plenty of fruit but tannins dominate. Still nice on day 2. — 9 years ago
Nice touch of Sangiovese — 11 years ago
Red blend 57% Syrah, 29% Merlot, and 14% Sangiovese. Bold and delicious — 8 years ago
Incredible. Rich, full bodied, complex nose that's a drink in itself, velvety smooth tannins. Beautiful dark color. — 9 years ago
Loved it! Higher acidity and fruit favour than expected. Gas station pick up in Genoa! — 11 years ago
Great with Copper River Salmon — 12 years ago
The Biale tradition began in the 1930's when Pietro Biale, an immigrant from Genoa, began planting Zinfandel on his Napa farm in 1937. An amazing Zin! Dark red with aromas of ripe fruits, floral and spice. On the palate, juicy chery, strawberry and cinnamon spice flavors. Soft fine tannins, nice balance with lingering finish ending with mineral tones. — 8 years ago
Kids home all day...not really a day off. With genoa and whiskey cheddar.

Lovely wine to end 2015! Happy New Year! — 9 years ago
A little Ripasso for Jeter's final game. Goes well with hard cheese, Genoa and NYY baseball. — 11 years ago
Might be the best legs I've ever seen... in a wine, anyway. Stands on its own quite well. I did not try this with meal only a small cheese and genoa plate. Smooth, slight plum and vanilla up front fairly dry on the finish. I'll seek this one out again. — 11 years ago

Pear, apple, peach on the nose. Body is medium minus. Acidity is medium minus. Apple, pear, unripened pineapple dominate the palate. The wine is young, vibrant, and has excellent citrus. Delicious with a bit of Genoa salami. — 7 years ago
