Minerally, lemon clawback from a tease of tropics/gooseberry. New oak gives it a little more seriousness, but not a malo/creamy mess — it’s crisp. Good “house” Sancerre — 3 years ago
Had this over a year ago, this is a new batch. Rich and creamy Blanc de Blanc with fruit from the villages of Avize and Oger. Fine mousse and bubble flow. Peach and sweet Apple with smoky and yeasty notes adding some lemon zest. Nice balance with toasty nutty notes, great mouthfeel on lingering finish, ending with mineral and yeasty tang. Nice! Cornas is & always will be one of my absolutely favorite Appellations in whole France. What a stunning showing from Frank Balthazar. The nose shows a beautiful melange of lush dark cherries, smoked meat, violets, crushed stone and a hint of thyme. On the palate this guy is so well balanced with a beautiful integrated acidity. Very round, fine, long finish with a lovely "graphite" touch on the back end. Can play with a lot of different food. Worth every damn penny. — 7 years ago
