The swamp smoke rose from the bottleneck as a stew of sediment was revealed through the phone light. Tea biscuit and ginger snap with molasses, burnt caramel and peanut brittle are conjured in turn, with coffee cake loaded with walnut. The palate invites with a yielding smoothness and teetering, sweet fig and date, but behind it, tea tree oils, resinous paper, dark tobaccos half-smoked, copper coins, fruit cake, struck flint, burnt corn tortilla, charcoal dust, and a slow-smoldering engine smoke. He's a dirty old machine, but soft in the middle with nougat and an espresso-chocolate cream that borders on coconuts. After a drag through the scrub, we arrive in a grove of sweet fruits. I love it. — 9 years ago
Another very solid IPA from Founders, showcasing Mosaic hops, citrus and Piny, orange peel, grapefruit, slight tropical hints, peach, pineapple, not too complex, just nice one dimensional mosaic hops, but that is good for those who do not understand how much one single hop can really make a very good IPA, just that very single Focus, gives you a deeper knowledge of how much one hop can defined a beer, and then you recognize that hop in other beers, but all that really means to be said about this beer, it is a very good beer in the style, and does exactly what it aims for, simply put, you like mosaic hops, this is the IPA for you — 10 years ago
This is a good one out of Grand Rapids. Dark and creamy with a smoky malt body. The name says it all. — 10 years ago

Founder's Sumatra Brown. Roasty mocha nose. Big and flavorful palate. Nice snappy carbonation. A delicious brown. — 10 years ago
So flavorful, ginger, spice, lemongrass, chamomile. Very floral, slightly sweet, and a bit of spice. Founders has done well with this one. — 10 years ago
Outstanding American Porter, much like their fantastic "Breakfast Stout" rich roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla, this is a very thin line between a porter and stout, not as big, of course as their stout, but as the style, just great, the hops add to this being a bigger Porter than most, everything' you would want in a great Porter, my "Go To" Porter, Excellent!!! — 10 years ago
One of the better American chards I have had. The collaborations of 3 generations of winemakers, comprising all of SCs winemakers over the years. Lean, the opposite of the butter-oakombs, but with so much subtlety and fleshy enough to be thoroughly enjoyable. — 10 years ago
An awesome wine, tons of strawberry on the palate. — 11 years ago
Deliciously roasted and perfect for reading liquor license app. — 12 years ago
On the nose; sweet liqueur style dark, dry cherries. The fruits are dry; blackberries, dark cherries, dry cranberries, black raspberries and raspberries. Violets, red roses, vanilla, crushed rocks and dry top soil. The palate is lush, rich & elegant. M body with well resolved round tannins. The fruits on the palate have a dry character just like the nose, but the body is ruby & lush; blackberries, dark cherries, dry cranberries, black raspberries and raspberries. Black fruit tea, raspberry cola, caramel, powdery limestone, volcanic minerals, vanilla, violets, red roses with a touch of pink roses, nice round acidity and a lush, ruby finish that has gorgeous sex appeal. Photos of; Kosta Browne winery, Kosta Browne Winery founders Dan Kosta, Chris Costello and Michael Browne, their beautiful Pinot grapes ready for harvest and one of their amazing Sonoma vineyards. Producer notes and history...if I remember my historical reading, Dan, Chris & Micheal were waiters in a former life. They saved tips, bought a ton or two of Pinot grapes and made their first vintage of Kosta Browne. It took with critics and they started their winery ascent. After several years of success, they sold Kosta Browne to Vincraft in 2009 for nearly 40 million dollars. One of the more amazing winery success stories in Napa/Sonoma. As I expected, a very nice zinfandel from Beringer. Somewhat simple and rustical, maybe even wild like zinfandels can be. Rich, pleasant, characteristic features of croatian “plavac mali”. I like it! Oh, yes, not to forget sweet delicious aftertaste. — 8 years ago
