Rich, smooth with smoky, vanilla oak nuances - great fireside sipping #tawnyport — 6 years ago
Deep, rich nose - raspberry purée and baking spices stand out. Red forest berries with secondary cedar, bark, and tobacco flavors. A slight hint of alcohol on the finish, but impressively well integrated. Feels like a fireside, winter wine. — 7 years ago
Mathieu has taken over winemaking and has done a fabulous job. This was all bright mid red fruits with some hues of blue and soft earthiness. Fresh & pure wire to to wire and a really nice pair with Hedy’s amazing spicy pumpkin soup. @ Plate & Bottle. Photos of, those old narly Gamay vines, Hedy’s spicy pumpkin soup, Mathieu barrel tasting and a little fireside bubbles & cheese before dinner. — 8 years ago

Complex with three distinct flavor stages. Solid fruit out front with a quick round balance then a smooth lingering finish. Sat by fireside mid August. Lovely — 9 years ago
Smacks you in the face with French oak - clove, nutmeg, vanilla bean, cedar bark. There is a richness to the oak, which mellows with air. Plum, blackcherry, and black raspberry fruit too... rich and extracted in style. Palate delivers smokey dark cherry and plum, with cocoa shavings engulfed in vanilla and baking spices. Think cherry jubilee with vanilla bean ice cream. Tannins have softened and are balanced beautifully with elegant acidity. Rich and opulent. This is winter time fireside wine - pair with dark chocolate mousse. Drink now with a splash decant. — 6 years ago
Fireside with Daniel on a dark and cloudy day, enjoying this full-bodied petite Syrah, bold and fruity with just enough bite. — 7 years ago
Nice fireside wine. Smooth! — 8 years ago

Excellent well rounded...tannins smooth but present, high acid..earth/mushrooms...cherry, dark plums present and present which I expect for 2010. Just an absolute well balanced wine with our chicken stew fireside seating is on point. — 8 years ago
Enjoyed fireside in Joshua Tree paired with gummi bears. — 9 years ago
Flinty, tarragon, chervil on the nose...mineral driven, notes on lemon and a long lingering finish...no complaints as I sit fireside with some herbed goat cheese & a baguette. — 9 years ago
Full bodied, with red fruits, spice, and some oak. Fireside wine. — 6 years ago
Smoky, spicy... and perfectly toasty; the perfect fireside wine. — 8 years ago
2005 magnum signed by Joe himself to my wife and I. Perfect wine for our 11th anniversary fireside on an awesome fall evening. Oh and about the wine, cherries, cedar, warm soil, thyme, nutmeg, and phenols. — 8 years ago
Very heavy, and very good. Best for a cold night fireside while chilling with a board game.
Def not a summer drink. — 9 years ago
I had the red Madeira. It is a dessert wine with coffee and brandy. Absolutely delicious! Imagine it fireside and sipping. — 9 years ago
Close but not quite the farm table white. This perfect seasonal blend is perfect for a cool fall evening or fireside. — 10 years ago
