During the Renaissance, the property was controlled by the Medici family, after several marriages it’s now controlled by the Contini Bonacossi family since early 20th century and is run by the Bonacossi’s; Filippo, Bernadetta & Beatrice. I met Beatrice at a private tasting. Deep Ruby, very ripe aromas of fruit & spice. Cherry/Raspberry & sweet spice, earthy tones & cacao, complex. Aged developed tannins, lingering, shows deep earthy tones, perfect now, at the end of its aging potential. Very Nice!! — 7 years ago
Lovely local white we had whilst on our honeymoon in Rome. Dry with subtle fruit flavor (I'm no expert on tasting notes, sorry) but this was lovely. — 9 years ago

Stunning grechetto for a spring day! Bone dry with a wonderful floral and fruity aroma and juice fruit tray on the palette. Medium body that cleans so well with balanced acidity! — 6 years ago
Great dessert, not too sweet. Order over port. — 8 years ago
1 1/2 years of patience, next bottle out of the case. Bold, packing a punch, still super rich with grippy tannins. — 8 years ago

Drinking very well. Still well structured, full bodied with complexity of red fruit and minerality. Beautiful lingering, soft finish. — 10 years ago

My Independence Day wine. Named for the patriot Filippo Mazzei who's great doctrine "All men are created equal" was incorporated into the Declaration of Independence by his great friend Thomas Jefferson. He's also the great viticulturist who planted the first vineyards at the Jefferson estate in Monticello, Virginia. — 11 years ago

Very drinkable and light — 6 years ago
A 100% sangiovese grape wine this balanced is rare. A hidden gem in he heart of Tuscany this wine had a hint of tart flavor that mixed well with the beef tartare. I plan to drink the whole bottle before the first meal arrives. — 7 years ago
Tasted flat after it was uncorked; but 30 minutes later it released full fruit -- cherries, blackberry, and perfect tannins. Impressive. — 8 years ago
Very mild. Light on the palate. Year 2011. — 10 years ago
A delicious dry white wine with just a touch of sweetness! Paired well with the pecorino flan! — 10 years ago

Very nice white wine from Pigato on the Ligurian coast. Lots of lemon and acid with quite a bit of complexity and some weight. — 6 years ago
