Apparently Pommard takes 20 years to open up. Damn good. — 7 years ago
Smells musty and funky at first, but given a little bit of air and time the smell of cherries and raspberries emerges. Taste is of sour cherries with a sweet fruit behind the initial sourness ... not much mind you, but enough to keep the tastes changing in your mouth. — 8 years ago
Best paired with Leo in The Revenant....I was instructed by the salesperson at the wine shop to let this open up for 20 minutes "to get past the hairy armpit stage" and to even decant it. Hmm okay? I think any Burgundian would disagree with the decanting bit so I just popped it and let it breathe a while. This had great structure. Oak and alcohol on the nose. Velvety on the palette with Earth and some remaining essence of oak. — 10 years ago
Was a little worried that this 2002 vintage was not opened sooner, but... Whoa doggie! Exceptional!!! Pear skin, apple pie, buttered toast and new French oaky deliciousness!!!! — 12 years ago
Great balance all round. Lovely bouquet. — 7 years ago
This 02 took some time to open up but it really blossomed. Lots of barnyard on the nose and great berries - blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. Very well integrated wine with nice balance — 9 years ago
Lives up to the name. Creamy and full of layers. — 11 years ago
Elegant burgundy with structure of earth and soil — 13 years ago
At Asheville reunion 10/7/19 opened to try. Wonderful! Earthy complex mature white fruit almost herbaceous nose with great lively yet weighty texture and long finish. What a deal! — 7 years ago
Love Pommard as they are just feisty enough to get your attention... — 9 years ago
Brillant focus and long. That slight reduction is great. — 11 years ago

Silky and bright on the front end. The fruit flavors fan out on the palate and morph into an earthy, shoe polish note that lasts for some time. — 4 years ago
