It has been a ☔️️☔️️🍂🍂 weekend here in Chicago and I couldn't let this gift from @David A Lentine stare at me anymore. Time to pop some good stuff. Plus we have to celebrate a 💪🏻💪🏻 showing by 🇺🇸 at the Ryder Cup, right @Mike Rowe ⛳️?
I'm excited to try some of @Celia Welch wines that all you post so much of and rave about. 2011 was a difficult harvest but the initial swirl indicates no impact of that!
Once again @David A Lentine thanks for the generous gift and feeding my #napacab addiction!! #100percentcab #napavalleyforever

Bubble frenzy with a stone fruit tart finish! — 8 years ago
I was quite happy with this wine today. Right up there as one of the better wines enjoyed. Lots of youth for a 97. Almost a bit medicinal, but fruit structure was good. There was really nothing that stood out about this wine, other than my saying the wine appeared to have more youth than "advertised." I would have guessed 2004-2005. Still didn't win the youth award (that one definitely went to the 99 Spottswoode). I would have been insanely happy with this wine as the only wine on the table, instead of 1 out of 16 (plus) that were all uncorked in a frenzy of fourth friday wines. — 8 years ago
This is honestly the best Chardonnay I've had. I don't normally drink white, let alone Chardonnay, but this is just spectacular. The hints of caramelised popcorn with a dash of heaven take me on a whirlwind to some magical land off yonder. — 9 years ago
Not one, but TWO bottles down. Lovely rose for a random night in feeding our True Blood addiction. Watermelon. Strawberry. Citrus. Acid. Lovely. — 9 years ago
Villiera does a couple of things that can curl my toes. .. this is one superb example of a MCC that sends me into a drinking frenzy that usually ends with a call to the glass recycling guys to come and collect the empties. the only bad thing would be if you only by one bottle.... buy a case immediately. you will thank me later. — 10 years ago

Well the 14' Sonoma pinots are supposedly the best since 2009 per Antonio; it's painfully young to drink I imagine but I earned it. 6 days into parenting twins I did 2 loads of laundry, cleaned the house for visitors, watered the lawn, changed countless diapers, and managed to cook pepper steak for dinner while feeding both from bottle myself.
Every wine lover should have a friend like Steve Redenbaugh! I needed a great Pinot tonight Steve, thanks! Bright cherry, eucalyptus, spice, and sweet pepper notes, great paring. — 8 years ago
Very impressive, smooth, black berry like and dream feeding my daughter after 2 glasses made her sleep through! Magic mountain indeed! — 9 years ago
There are these moments in recorded music where something gets reissued today from like the 70s or 80s on a crisp new vinyl press. Nobody's seen the original because it's so damn rare. And the recording just fucking bumps so hard and the soul of the music is so deep, from the ages when synths and sample banks were too far off to care about. Ya, this. This is the one. Don't be afraid to drink this today. You will be rewarded with soul. It will be difficult to return to trap hats and people with no talent feeding you meaningless poetic dribble. And my apologies to Amass, we put you up against this. Unfortunately this wine won in the end by a long shot and the 30 chefs in your kitchen were all slain by 3 generations of farmers working side by side. — 9 years ago

Dense red color. The nose however is brightly open and expressive, exuberant I’m tempted to say. Bursting aromas of herbs combine with vibrant raspberry jam in a dancing frenzy, delighting the nose. Very soft and refined palate, with some density but an outstanding finesse to the feel. This 2001 shines brighter than many, utter finesse and elegance, great and ready to drink, but an hour decanting would be my suggestions; it only gets better with time. — 7 years ago
