Before airing, nose was weird and furniture-like. But things normalized quickly. This is one of the more complex non-Ripasso Valpos out there (yes, I know it’s not officially DOC). Nose has bitter cherry, almond, tilled soil (almost like the smell of just-pulled carrots). Great balance, fruit and acid in abundance, soft mouthfeel, lighter weight. Tannins resolved. Bone dry. Finish is minerally and savory. Would work with a wide range of Italian food. I should note that the back label states that this was made in accordance with a 19th century traditional technique, including aging in chestnut and cherrywood barrels. — 4 years ago
Crisp, clean with mild acidity. The regular la scolca is really good, but this is better. — 5 years ago

Second bottle of this. So comfortable in its own skin. Doesn’t try to impress, just fit in (with food, that is). Nose has bitter cherry, gravel, old mahogany furniture. Soft and fruity, but bone dry and with good acids and a little bitterness making the finish interesting. Great accompaniment to pasta with red sauce and sausage. — 4 years ago
Dry yet fruity. Ends with a nice berry aftertaste that isn’t too sweet. — 4 years ago

Color of bubbly egg white. Nose of ripe pineapple, mango, red apple, and sweet citrus. Taste is tinkling sweet and acidic citrus, some more tropical a bit zesty and salty. Aftertaste shows some more flowering and light honey note. Feels like a sweet bubbly Pinot Grigio. Quite clean. Not bad. — 4 years ago
Dry but interesting. Paired well with Moroccan lamb. — 4 years ago

@Ely Cohn pretty much read my mind with his notes. Moderate bricking on edges in glass - check, Dark cherry, raspberry nose, some cocoa and a touch of sous bois on the finish - check. The ultra-soft tannins were noticeable in their faintness. Lovely wine for the price which has aged nicely over seven years; likely near peak. #verona #corvina — 3 years ago
