Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 1995

Slightly cloudy garnet ruby core . Some herbal and slightly funky undergrowth , dried red fruits, dried mushroom , tobacco and dried spices, touch medicinal also. On the palate still some fruit , dried red cherry, those sous bois notes , rose and spice , liquorice . Balanced acidity, noticeable slightly angular tannin. Ok length with just a touch of warmth , slightly smoky finish . This is mature and should be drunk as I don’t see it improving. Drink Now and next 5 years . — 3 months ago

Cahors Malbec 2020

Yowza!
Old school meets suavé. Very cherry on the nose initially with red and black fruits mixed. Earth, leather,
Nice cocoa on the palate against lemon on short ribs. Multi faceted, easy, maybe too easy. Do not be deceived, this is A+ vino. It’s like the old world popped its head into the new. Deliciousness!

Clos de Gamot Cahors Malbec 2020

Enjoyed over the course of 4 days and best on Day 4. On Day 1, this was poured into a decanter for two hours before being returned to the bottle. The quality was undoubted but it was just too primary; full of promise though! Day 4? Different story. Notes are descriptive of Day 4. The 2020 pours a deep ruby/slightly purple, with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with significant staining. On the nose, deep, dark brambles, plums, the most remarkable purple flowers you’ve ever smelled in a wine, anise, cocoa and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the structure is significant and even after four days, was unrelenting; medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirmed the notes from the nose. The finish is forever long, rich and tangy. A wine for hearty meals but just as lovely on its own. A wine for the patient as rushing a bottle at this stage is plain foolish. Easily a 30+ year wine. Better after 2025. @Lyle Fass 🙏🏽 — 5 months ago

Petit Clos Famille Bourgeois Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Citrus nose. Nice tartness. Definitely not your typical NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Much more balanced and a longer complex finish. Lime and apple with hints of salinity. — a year ago

I feel like you always say “not your typical NZ” whenever you really like it. Maybe you just don’t like typical NZ wine?

This is one overpowering Pinot Noir, even for California. Chewy mouthful of red fruit, with complexity supplemented by minor bitter chocolate. Runs on all eight cylinders. — 4 months ago

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Licorice, hint of cinnamon, slight cherry and dark berries. Even on open, this is elegant and smooth which bodes well for a 2010 that is still decanting. Half price Sundays are excellent! — 5 months ago
