Great balance. Crunchy tannin with enough fruit to carry — 10 years ago
On the Nose: Citrus, Grapefruit, Lemon Peel & Honey with a Butter / Dairy edge.
On the Palette: Generous body and acidity with huge length. Citrus, Melon and Stone Fruit, finishing with a marmalade undertone.
Last bottle, so sad. Beautiful aged Chardonnay. HB doesn't get the press it deserves for Chard. — 11 years ago
Bordeaux grapes make this a Bordeaux style wine, but the terroir of the Columbia River Valley make this fuller than most Bordeauxs -- lovely wine, indeed! — 11 years ago
A unique salty note, from vines grown on cliffs 500 feet above sea level — 11 years ago

My favorite Minervois vignerons deliver a wonderful, spicy, blackberries buffeted by the silence of limestone cliffs & just a hint of oceanic austerity at the clean finish. I always think of the royal purple seashells when I drink this wine... — 10 years ago
This is really tasty. Fruity. — 10 years ago
Customer brought this in and was nice enough to let me taste this super elegant Nebbiolo from Oregon. Earthy and ripe red berries in the nose. A guzzler of a wine for me — 11 years ago
From Julia: "Lighter but with a lot of substance." Sommelier: "Earthy, like the soil of freshly picked strawberries. From the red sandstone cliffs of the Main valley in Germany." — 11 years ago
Wonderful but $42. Dried cherries and herb flavored, smooth, a little dry, good for 5 year shelf life, goes with cheeses early — 11 years ago

Smoke, earth and an ethereal lightness from the high-altitude, rocky cliffs of the Valle d'Aosta. This is a Nebbiolo to savor. — 12 years ago
2009 Cinque Terrre Sciacchetra. 80.15.5 Bosco.Albarola.Vermentino. Passito style from eastern Liguria. Grown in sea mist on jagged cliffs. Rich, viscous, nutty, candied orange peel, dried fig, apricot. Mature, complex, meditative, special, scarce, fun, engaging. From a vanishing culture of less than twenty producers. 500 cases made 15 to SF. — 10 years ago
Really nice. — 10 years ago

Biodynamic original from Mosel, exceptional minerality perhaps from the grey slate cliffs? — 12 years ago

The colour of golden saffron suspended in lightly heated cane-sugar water; a nose of candied blood-orange rind, apricot blossoms, dehydrated sweet white onions, German asparagus sautéed in unsalted butter, and sweaty dandelions; a gloriously ambivalent palette - it shuttles back and forth between a frantically ebullient acidity and a warming fur coat of alcohol and sweetness, with just a hint of sea salt at the very end. An amazing wine. Like drinking in large and perfectly sculpted waves crashing over craggy and desolate cliffs, whilst watching an enduring and fathomless sunset. — 10 years ago
