A knockout wine. The nose shows florals, tree bark, and dark fruit. The palate is all about balance. Unmistakably California with ripe fruit intertwined with anise and earth, layered beneath the firm structure. The finish is lush and long with a bit of dark chocolate. I usually stick to my regulars, the Napa stalwarts, but this was a nice detour. — 7 years ago
Amazing nose. Lots of red fruit and perfume. Big like a Sonoma coast Pinot without being overly so. — 9 years ago
Needs time to breathe but once it does it is very smooth. — 10 years ago
Boytle has held up well, considering subpar storage. Descent entry, good finish with a hint of cocoa and dusty tannins. — 10 years ago
Medium tannins, little red fruit but not too jammy, well balanced with a little pepper on the end — 10 years ago

Fresh, citrusy, light pear, clean. Perfect compliment to our Thanksgiving. Didn't overpower the food. — 11 years ago
Wow! 2007 vintage in magnum was destined for Thanksgiving 2013! Right in its stride. Earth, cherry, a little spice and cola. 1/2 point deduction for too much alcohol. — 12 years ago
With Niese at sapphire. First rose Pinot I've tried. Super tasty — 13 years ago
Pretty good. Lots of fruit. Way better than last year. — 7 years ago
Undeniably California fruit and style but balanced with a solid amount of tertiary aromas and flavors emerging behind a powerful red fruit and peppery bite — 9 years ago
Goes great with spicy lamb kabobs! Should be accompanied by food... — 9 years ago

V11. Very good. Rich purple, crystal staining juice. Rose, cedar and plum nose. Juicy black currant, and black berry fruit. Smooth, dry finish. Leather finish. Nicely balanced. — 7 years ago

Nice pure blackberry and cassis fruit with just a dash of brown sugar. While it has plenty of fruit, it has a savoriness and fine tannin that keep it from being cloying and bring it good balance. Very enjoyable without food, but it really shines with a grilled, dry-aged Flannery ribeye. It is the kind of balanced Napa Cabernets that takes me back to wines like early 1990s Etude and Forman. — 6 years ago
