I disagree with you about the Chenin not being awesome all the time.
Yes. Chenin is awesome almost all the time.
I have a relationship with Chenin similar to what I have with Can Franc: I tend to like more polished, cleaner, more 'serious' styles of the grape. And when I like it, I really like it. But there's a lot of stinky, lazily made Chenin and Cab Franc out there.
