Muted nose. Minerals light caramel; but huge palate stomp! Barley wine-style tar tobacco charred barley malt and a tiny bite of espresso with licorice. Another grape I don't know much about (Pallagrello Nero). The wine is a lot racier and loud than I was expecting (especially given it was retailing for less than 20 usd). But the flavors seem more floral/rose-petaly/spicy/clovey rather than fruity/chocolate/vanilla. Lot of tannin. I chose the wrong dinner to make. This wine is going to curb stomp my pasta.
