A curiosity from the Silvaspoons vineyard in Alta Mesa AVA (Sacramento County) from the mysterious Portuguese Alvarelhao grape, made by Matthew Rorick.Transparent ruby, purplish at the rim. Very aromatic, violet-like nose, reminescent of Brachetto. Amazingly elegant in the mouth, medium-bodied, with red currant, velvety tannin and fresh acidity. Long finish with retronasal violets. Impressive. 2014 vintage, abv 13,12 %, 27 euro. — 8 years ago

At Mulveney's, Sacramento, with Bill Dritsas , 1/11/17. With pork chop and ding dong for dessert. Also has foie gras with late harvest sémillon and sauvignon blanc. The Rhys punit was served too cold. It was "dumb" at first but gradually opened up as it warmed. Nice fruit, subdued nose. Cherries, licorice, and leather tones. — 7 years ago

Love, love this 'champagne'! It was my mother's favorite. When she passed away, 12/23/07, it was served in her home for the visitors reception. I found it at Cost Plus in Sacramento. I was able to bring a case back with me. I have been looking for it here in Topeka and Kansas City Metro area. Will keep you informed when I do! — 10 years ago
