Krug is always most welcome, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. This is edition 169. A bit more yeasty and slightly less acidic than previous versions, to my taste. But if you like the Krug style - which we do very much - it hits the spot per usual.
My wife used to work with Fritz Hatton, proprietor of Arietta wines and auctioneer for Zachys. Fritz always says to have a half bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge in case you need a “midnight snack”, and I have to agree with him! — 4 years ago

Really tasty. Smooth, not too dry. Easy to drink. Really great finish. This will become a part of the rotation. — 6 years ago
This was top 10 chardonnays for me. Buttery, creamy but not a butter bomb. Drank this with the Baer’s in Lake Bluff thanks to Scott Garrett — 8 years ago
Balanced. Nice blend of acidity, vanilla. — 8 years ago
Before airing, nose was weird and furniture-like. But things normalized quickly. This is one of the more complex non-Ripasso Valpos out there (yes, I know it’s not officially DOC). Nose has bitter cherry, almond, tilled soil (almost like the smell of just-pulled carrots). Great balance, fruit and acid in abundance, soft mouthfeel, lighter weight. Tannins resolved. Bone dry. Finish is minerally and savory. Would work with a wide range of Italian food. I should note that the back label states that this was made in accordance with a 19th century traditional technique, including aging in chestnut and cherrywood barrels. — 4 years ago
All time favorite.. red fruit, some fizz, some funk, all glou. — 6 years ago
Light, refreshing, tart green apple and pear. A hint of sweetness. — 7 years ago
So drinkable. Great for summer. — 8 years ago
Second bottle of this. So comfortable in its own skin. Doesn’t try to impress, just fit in (with food, that is). Nose has bitter cherry, gravel, old mahogany furniture. Soft and fruity, but bone dry and with good acids and a little bitterness making the finish interesting. Great accompaniment to pasta with red sauce and sausage. — 4 years ago
Pale yellow color. Nose and palate strongly citrus with a hint of mineral. A very good Chardonnay — 4 years ago
One of the smoothest, most flavorful whiskies I have tried. — 5 years ago
The color is a pale orange red, kind of coppery. Beautiful. smells like tart fruit - blood orange and strawberry - but also detecting earthiness, maybe rocks, salt. Texture is light but poppy. Tastes like bright fruit, acid, ash and salt. This is special. The hype is real. — 7 years ago
