Enjoyed it more the next day. Nice oak and tannins. — 7 years ago
Gorgeous color and aromas of black cherry and blackberries. Entry is rich and smooth with lingering aftertaste. Extremely enjoyable wine which unfortunately is no longer available from this vineyard plot. — 8 years ago
Mild with spice at end. Enjoyed — 10 years ago
Als dessertwijn smaakt deze muskaat voortreffelijk bij chocolade, ijs en espresso. Voor de prijs mag dat ook wel, maar desalniettemin een opvallende prestatie! — 11 years ago
2009 vintage... Beautiful color! Smooth! — 11 years ago
2003 vintage - a huge wine - well integrated fruit & oak - good legs with years ahead of it — 11 years ago
2010. Melbec petit Verdot blend. Nice violet and tar, bit chewy. Drink. — 12 years ago
Truly, a Syrah not Shiraz from Australia. Pretty, restrained- not overly floral or jammy. Only outdone by Gary's Healesville Syrah- which is a feminine beast. — 13 years ago
Finally getting around to posting wines from my annual Napa trip from two weeks ago. Always goes by quick! Lots of fun new stops this year.
Here is the other wine that I claimed may have been the red wine of the trip, and also may have been one of the top winery visits of the trip! Loved tasting in the family home and hearing the connecting stories between them and the Macdonalds. I’ll forever be grateful that @Carl Fischer introduced me to Detert years ago, and he helped make an intro so that I could visit this time around.
Monster! This is like the normal cab franc but with everything turned up to 11. However, because it’s cab franc, the elevated profile isn’t overwhelmingly fruit forward...it just makes it so floral. Potpourri, violets, jasmine accompanied by herbal spice, black tea, mulberries, dark chocolate and cedar. Zero trace of green pepper. Very vineyard loyal. As old vine To Kalon cab franc, this has classic To Kalon power with currant, graphite, vibrant black cherries, clay/dirt, red, blue and black berries with skyscraper like structure and profile. Very fine grained tannins. This is an astounding cab franc. — 6 years ago
Baker Lane Vineyard(Field Guide 05), Bottle Numbers 1874 and 1879, Harvested 10/02/2014. Paired with a roast Alaskan Cod with Cannellini Beans and Castelvetrano olives, Roasted Broccoli, and Chocolate Gourmet Cannoli Cupcake. The food and wine complimented each, and the strong body of the wine brought out the hidden flavors and spices of the fish. Has a strong finish. Never ever adhere to old wives’ tale that only white goes with fish, as this meal clearly disapproves any notions. — 8 years ago
Fruity, balanced with a soft finish.... pretty freaking awesome. — 9 years ago
Butterscotch and slight violet bouquet. Beautiful creamy, butterscotch and very slight orange finish desert wine. Outstanding! — 11 years ago
Fine Sauv Blanc, definitely a food wine. — 11 years ago
Very dark, but smooth and bubbly and not as heavy as it appears. Tasty and easy to drink like a lager with notes of chocolate. — 12 years ago
Welcome to epic Australia — 13 years ago
Feeling nostalgic for our trip to Ridge drinking this. Wonderfully gushy with pure fruit just the slightest hint of potting soil and something beautiful in that realm, maybe petrichor. Silky tannins and just unreal integration of structure. A wonderful expression of both PS and Zin. — 7 years ago

Big, rich and bold. Lightly sweet up front and tart + spice on the back. A bit on the tart side of the spectrum for me. Tart fruits really pop! — 8 years ago
Gorgeous. Complex. Nice tannin trap at the end. — 9 years ago
Very nice. Smoky on the nose and then a very well balanced wine on the palate. — 10 years ago
Soft and savoury, very long. — 11 years ago
Best buy for the buck--my white go to. Fruit forward dry finish. Good body but drinkable. So much in this little wine! 2014 — 11 years ago
Biodynamic single-vineyard wine. Estate grown Shiraz with a touch of Viognier.
Its smokiness surrounds aromas of anise and cedary oak with blackberries. It's meaty with a hint of animality, cinnamon and bacon strip. — 12 years ago
