Amazing wine! — 6 years ago
Herbal and still rather tannic and youthful. Leather, mushroom, tobacco, thyme, rosemary, dusted plum. Some redder tones emerge from the black fruit core - strawberry even. A pleasant rusty patina with some gentle, welcome bitterness on the finish. — 6 years ago
Very nice wine for the price. Smooth tannins — 7 years ago
Beautiful plum ruby color with a lighter almost orange rim on it.
The nose is pretty and fragrant. Inky and acetone to start on the nose leads to wild berries with mocha and coffee dusted almonds. The tannins are grippy as hell, fighting you as you swallow. I say the finish drops off too quickly for it to get a higher score, but it has tremendous potential. — 8 years ago
Sooooo much happening on the nose here walnut, blood orange marmalade, creme caramel, 400 year old oak sideboard that's recently had a beeswax polish 😉 baked banana, old oak barrel cellar, spiced pineapple, cinnamon dusted apricot pastry, peaches in cream. In the mouth the first shot is pretty full on alcoholic hotness but as the mid palate rolls over the crest of the hill a huge intensity of dried fruit sweeps through your palate with a huge freshness of spicy tropical fruits then on the finish the nutty notes come through, caramel drizzled over walnuts, white truffle oil. Gorgeous! — 9 years ago
Chocolate dusted cherries, tight, fresh, complex. Over delivers for the money. — 9 years ago
Very great summer Pinot — 10 years ago
God damn! Not just trying to toot our own horns, but this Petit Syrah is orgasmic! It has some serious tannins and serious fruit going on, a huge wine that lingers like you want it to. — 11 years ago
Wow! High octane, but at the same time, balanced. Red, blue and black fruit on the nose. Violet too. Nutmeg and some cocoa dusted bay leaf. Palate is young. Licorice and cassis. Blueberry driven finish that is both powerful and refined at the same time. Plenty of time ahead for this. — 6 years ago
2012 is still jammy, but profound, a great "notter botter". Unfortunately, there are no more DV Grenaches after the 2014 vintage. But if you like Grenache, new world especially, this is the bomb. For DV and Grenache now, go to the Squirrel Tooth Alice, which is even more yum! — 7 years ago
Sweet and peppery delight! Blueberry, blackberries, and game meat dominate the initial palette. White pepper notes finish it off. Yum!! — 7 years ago
Very nice. Great flavor. Only 6600 bottles produced — 8 years ago
Aged to perfection! Wonderful and intense bright red fruit, not even a hint of rust (thank you screw cap). Just lingers and lingers, like a sleepy Sunday morning. — 8 years ago
Surprising depth of flavor. — 9 years ago

One of the best Merlots I've had in a long time — 8 years ago
This is like candied velvet sex. Combines the best part of an after work cocktail with a glass of ruby port. Maybe not the best with a meal, but on its own after or instead of dinner it is dynamite. Here's hoping the boys at DV start making more cases. — 9 years ago
Smooth full wine; 2012 — 10 years ago
