Not as citrusy as New Zealand's SB, but paired well with seafood. — 10 years ago
One of the very few reds that I can call "light and refreshing". I would love to have this again on a cool summer night with a good book and a bowl of fresh berries. — 10 years ago
Seductive sweet Skeena cherry nose with a framing of cedar and Ecuadorian cocoa. Assertive, plump and juicy Avalon Plum on the tongue , complimented by subtle green peppercorn spice and dust bowl Rutherford tannins on the closing attack, with surprising whimsically bright tannins. Damn good! — 9 years ago

Just the other day I was telling my co-worker, "I'm not really a fan of older wines. I just don't know how to appreciate them. Tonight I found this Cabernet in my wine fridge. 1981 Sullivan Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.... Oh. My. God! This wine has aged so gracefully! Light bouquet of earthiness and meat. Rich, deep, garnet-red, no sign of oxidation.... Plum, dust, and cocoa on the palate. Sweet Baby Jesus, Jim Sullivan was a wizard. I wish I could have met him. (I worked for Sullivan Vineyards in 2014. That's how I scored this gem) I was sure this wine would be "ruined", past its prime, oxidized. I was happily mistaken. Just.... YAY! — 9 years ago
Exactly what I wanted on a bitterly cold night with a bowl of chowder.
Would drink cases of this. — 10 years ago
North Coast Syrah. And wow, seriously the best wine I've had in so very long. So surpassed expectations with the quiet tannins and wonderful bouquet. I wish they would crop dust major cities with this perfume. Pepper, violets and gameness. Sounds like small production so I'm worried this is one of the last bottles around. — 11 years ago

Rootin' tootin' straight shootin' IPA. Nothing fancy (in a good way) but the lagering (not sure if that's a real word) adds a really nice bit of mellowness. It also prevents an overly fruity finish. Which, had I thought about it, I could have rhymed with the whole rootin' tootin' opening salvo. Oddly enough, I scarfed this down as a complement to a bowl of Tikka Masala. — 9 years ago
