Flint and lasers, dueling in my mouth — 12 years ago
Ginger, coffee, cassis and mint swirl enticingly on the nose, and the wine opens with mint and black fruit, some apricot notes. At the mid palate poise and opulence seem to be dueling for precedence, but then the Mouton menthol, spices and nuttiness, and here some caramel and cassis, almost overtake the experience, and the nicely rounded tannins, and the seamless pervading core of fruit, the spice enlivened composure, lively if subtle acidity, along with truffles captivate on the simply bravura finish. — 9 years ago

Looking for a wine to go with the Thanksgiving meal? This Gamay will work perfectly with the array of dueling dishes on the table. (Put a couple away in the cellar and take another look around '19. You'll think you're a genius.) — 9 years ago

Mark Oldman
DRC Richebourg 1971, in jeroboam: fully mature, but incredibly still fresh and vibrant and concentrated, with serious complexity, highlighted by notes of soy sauce and dueling sensations of cedar and forest floor. This bright, medium-to-full bodied star didn’t fade over the 90 minutes of dinner, and its finish trailed off into a seeming eternity. A top 5 wine of my life. — 8 years ago
