Revisiting the Mahé & Ribo Syrah in honor of Sami-Odi taking the number 4 slot of James Suckling's "Top Australian Wines Of 2016." It's now had an additional 8 weeks rest in my cellar since I last sampled it shortly after its arrival to our shores. Wow! Inky purple color with a brooding nose of dark fruits , anise and sweet spices. Super silky tannins which perfectly compliment the dark fruits. A luxurious mouth feel bordering on savory-ness. Full-bodied and vibrant with beautiful structure. Lingering finish. This is not your classic/typical "sweet" Australian Shiraz ( my guess is that Fraser harvests rather early), but the fruit purity and overall structure speaks for itself. Congrats Fraser! @TheSkip I usually shoot for 3-4 hours on the decant. @Bill Bender You don't have to wait that long, however I know you have a lot of wine to choose from.

Fantastic nose with honey and apple. Very balanced with a Granny Smith acidity. Granny Smith and toffee on the palate. Oaky with vanilla. Matured on oak and in steel vats. A long maturation and low pressure produces a very complex Champagne with fine bubbles. Dosage is 5g/L. 100% Chardonnay from a premier cru village. Really great Champagne and producer. — 8 years ago
