Old Calabria is number one on my personal travel books top list, wrote by that British genius who was Norman Douglas. Now this is the optimum wine to pair with such a reading: rarity, daring, intensity... only to mention few of the features we'got stated in here. Name of the wine's: 'A Vita - La Vite, The Vine in Calabrian dialect in harmony with The Life/La Vita as well - it focuses from the start the insane complexity and discloses the fleeing of the whole subject in itself! Salute e lunga Vita, thou good Old Cirò! — 10 years ago

Cornas is & always will be one of my absolutely favorite Appellations in whole France. What a stunning showing from Frank Balthazar. The nose shows a beautiful melange of lush dark cherries, smoked meat, violets, crushed stone and a hint of thyme. On the palate this guy is so well balanced with a beautiful integrated acidity. Very round, fine, long finish with a lovely "graphite" touch on the back end. Can play with a lot of different food. Worth every damn penny. — 9 years ago

A more elegant style of Pinot noir and this is the newest project from Barbara banke she believed in the Anderson valley so she started buying up vineyards in this valley to do a new Pinot noir project. 2007 was the first vintage and Maggie hawk was one of the Jackson's horses. Only 250 cases of this wine was produced this year no 2008 was produced due to the fires. A very pretty nose of baking spices black raspberry and this is clone 2a a very small cluster so very concentrated. A very smooth and silky texture with an array of spice and partial whole cluster Elizabeth grant Douglas is the winemaker here same as la Crema. A big Pinot noir and quite savory. Finish 45+ most excellent — 11 years ago

I bought this wine simply because it was from Ardeche and it brought back warm fuzzy memories of a cold rainy weekend. Cab Sauv, stout right out of the bottle. Tart cherries right away, almost effervescent. Dark fruits on the back, almost blackberry and plums. — 13 years ago
Green bell pepper, vegetal, Douglas fir — 9 years ago
