2014 - year of the horse
Double decant and pour. A medium dark ruby red color. Buckle up, your going to enjoy this ride. On the nose: sweet raspberry, forest floor, some vegi, slight menthol, with a little cinnamon. Taste: black cherry, gravel, minerals, currents, with a smokey graphite long finish. A rich, soft, savory mouthfeel (this is no cherry cola Russian River bomb).
West slope is a limited production wine from the middle portion of the west slope block in their Carneros vineyard...get some if you can and give it some time in the cellar.. — 6 years ago

Dark red color. In the nose — strong cherry with floral spice and hint of licorice. Taste — burst of cherry fruit, with vanilla and chocolate notes and some spice with a medium finish. It should tear of the Ram not horse. Worth visiting Donum Vineyards for a tasting and seeing the awesome art sculptures! — 7 years ago
Best wine we've had in many years. — 8 years ago

By far the lightest Pinot they make. A real treat. — 10 years ago
Solid as always. Ever since I started drinking Donum I just don't love this as much. Slight QPR penalty - perhaps I'm being too harsh. — 11 years ago
A delicious experience with this Pinot from Donum Decanted 3 hours. Color- clear red garnet. Nose-Cherry red licorice and hints of strawberry spice. Big mouth full of red cherry tart fruit, warm feel in the mouth and a long finish of baking spices and slightly smokey. Tannins present but smooth and could still integrate more. A wonderful delightful and nicely structured wine. A definite way to elevate your day or evening. — 6 years ago
Love the work that the winemaker does, but this was my first Cattleya. Lifted profile with a touch of spice...assuming some whole cluster usage. Perfumed potpourri, spicy red fruits, and black cherry skin on the nose. Medium acidity with stemmy/herbaceous notes alongside violets, more black cherries, underripe plum and peppercorn. — 6 years ago

Double decanted and drank. Dark red color. On the nose cherry, licorice, floral notes. Taste: Caneros cherry, raspberry, vanilla, little spice and medium finish. Nicely integrated semi big Calif pinot. — 7 years ago

Nose has very approachable ripe raspberry and strawberry notes, to me classic, aged Russian River fruit, beautiful. Only a light trace of alcohol (14.4% on this one) at the trailing end of a deep sniff.
Palate is still concentrating, this needs much more air time, presently a light raspberry/strawberry/cherry note with a damp sand aspect, perhaps some dried orange peel too.
I'm looking for improvement as the night progresses...
24hr Update: Nose is similar, but now includes bruised fruits. Palate is nice, great, sappy, macerated cherry notes today, yum. — 8 years ago
Almost cola like with some effervescent. A lively acid for sure. With the duck and caviar- unbelievable — 9 years ago
The hint of oak is nice. — 10 years ago
Plum, tea leaves, dark cherry, a hint of exotic spice. A few years bottle age has done this well. Very nice. — 10 years ago
Too much going on for notes tonight — 11 years ago
Impressive drinker made at Donum Estate. — 12 years ago
Medium ruby color. Aromas of a fresh cut cedar, dried flowers and red fruit. Great flavors of cranberries, raspberries and red plums. Slightly rustic structure with a solid tannic core and great acidity. A long lingering finish of red fruit and cinnamon. A really nice wine. — 6 years ago
Weekend in San Jose for the Queen concert!! Enjoying a pinot and the pool! Pop and pour (young...would of loved a few more years on the bottle). A fascinating dark ruby red. On the nose: red fruit, plum, vanilla, olives. Taste: bright red cherry, spice, herbs, some chocolate...nice concentration and finish with a little tannic kick. — 7 years ago

2015 vintage. Clear ruby, med bodied, silky mouthfeel. Red berry, plum, rose petal, tomato leaf, earth, iron. Low alc, Old World expression, complex wine. — 7 years ago
Mellow tannins but has long finish. 8 years old and holding up. Fruit isn't as present but the acid and tannins are holding it together. Decent value for it's price in Chile. This is number two bottle I've liked from this producer. — 8 years ago
Bibiana came to Brasswood yesterday to talk about her wines and her storyline from Columbia to France to California. Showed her Donum Pinot and Russian river Chardonnay and Soberanes Syrah to the entire staff, barside. When asked about the obstacles to overcome in making fine wine here as opposed to there she answered, " there are no obstacles to making fine wine here in California. The obstacle is to do it , have access to the fruit and a means to make it. Otherwise , all preferences are for this place, California ." — 9 years ago
Enjoying the wine. Lighter than Donum both in taste and color. — 10 years ago
Amazed by this Chardonnay from the okanagan valley. Tons of minerality and beautifully balanced oak. Soft lemon and apple. Reminds me of Donum or Hanzell. — 12 years ago

Finally took a drive and picked up our Donum quarterly allocation....stopped at Mustards Grill in Napa for some dinner takeout! Order anything it's all great food!!
Double decant and pour. A fetching medium red color. On the nose: very fragrant...strawberry and more strawberry with floral, woodsy, and cherry notes. Taste: a restrained, Burgundy style with cherry, wet leaves, herbs, tea, and gravel. A dry wine (med acidity) with a medium plus finish. — 6 years ago
