From magnum. The Flagship Red from Donnafugata. 90% Nero d’Avola; 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Syrah. Lovely wine but very New World and modern with loads of quality French new oak. Blackberry fruit. Could have been s high quality Barossa Shiraz except the Nero d’Avola turns it into s medium bodied not full bodied wine. Would like to see it in 5+ years when the oak may have settled down. — 7 years ago

Sicilian wine evening, wine #7
Very classic CS/Merlot blend with black currant & cassis with some pencil shavings and a whiff of menthol. Ripe and fruit forward on the palate with polished tannins and good balance between the fruits& the acidity. Proper, correct, could come from any other place in the world. Still, a very good wine in itself. — 4 years ago
