Domaine Vavril

Cuvee Montessuy Gamay Noir

8.9

This wine is delicious. I could drink it every day and be happy. It’s listed as Gamay Noir on the front label and Beaujolais Villages on the back. I assume the back is accurate, as it’s a step up from your basic Beaujolais. I got this for $14 from Moore Brothers, which is an insane value considering that Cru Beaujolais routinely sells for twice as much these days. Whatever you do, don’t buy this so that it remains relatively cheap and there’s more for me. — 2 years ago

Cuvée de Chatenay Chiroubles Gamay 2020

Still quite young, solid wine. — 3 years ago

Beaujolais-Villages Gamay 2018

No carbonic; vinified 100% “à la Bourguignonne”. Beets, rhubarb, sour fruits. Velveteen, plush texture, while still chillably low in alcohol. The quality and intensity would shame a few Cru bottlings. Reminds me a lot of the old Leynes cuvée of Bernard Dalicieux. — 5 years ago
