21’ are so much fun for PnP. Light, pretty, red fruits and earth lead the way. — 8 months ago

The 2006 Clos Saint-Denis pours a deep ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of tart and ripe red and black fruits: raspberry, strawberry, black cherry, eastern spices, a touch herbal and nice minerals, almost like red and purple Flintstone vitamins. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. While I can sort of understand the mixed opinions on this wine/vintage combo, I personally think this needs a lot more time. Secondary characteristics are still not really showing and the fruit and structure are still very much intact. And even in this early window, I thought this was baller alongside some absolute bangers…it just needs a lot more time. Concentrated. Desperately wanted to try this on Day 2. Drink with patience and through 2056. — 2 months ago
Apple and pear fruit with classic mineral finish. Wonderfully paired with shellfish ( scallops and lobster). — 5 months ago
Maybe I’m not objective because of such fond memories of smelling this in the tank and tasting its two predecessors en barrique with Hubert on our honeymoon. But I can’t imagine this being any better than it was last night on our 25th anniversary. — 7 months ago
Loved this paired with food - prickly pear, lemon, honeysuckle or melon. Easy to drink, rounded and crunchy, not too tart nor too sweet. — 9 months ago
The 1999 Clos de la Roche VV pours a slightly hazy ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of ripe red and black fruits: raspberry, bruised strawberry, black cherry, dried red flowers, licorice, mushroom, sous bois, all spice. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and dripping with complexity. During the first couple hours, this was pretty locked up and willing to share its secrets. Towards the end of the night, this ended up being one of the wines what really started to pour it on. My favorite pairing with the boeuf Bourguignon. Drink now with some patience but better after 2029 and through 2049 with ease. — 2 months ago
