Deep purple with light rim gradation. Initial funky nose disappeared shortly after pouring. Great aromas, collapsed tannins, dark fruit. This tastes rather like an older rioja with some herbs lacing the nose. Medium-short finish--this is on the downward slope. Drink up. — 8 years ago
Had this with lunch at union square cafe! Phenomenal! — 8 years ago
From the Lombardy region of northern Italy, this is made by the wollersheim winery winemaker phillipe's younger brother Jean-Francois Coquard. Fantastic and approachable table wine. It goes great with good, particularly fatty, red meat. The beets are very present in both smell and taste. Notes from the maker: full-bodies red with aromas reminiscent of eucalyptus, red beets, little berries and notes of almond on the finish. Made from their estate-grown Italian Bonarda grape. — 9 years ago
2011 vintage, Aux Combottes, in half bottle from the domaine. Is there a more unlucky AOC in Burgundy? Surrounded on 4 sides by Grand Crus, this is a Premier Cru. Perhaps the tendency for Aux Combottes to be historically owned by farmers from Morey is behind the politics of the hierarchy here?! Good aromatics, pretty nose, with depth. Red fruit profile. On the palate, the tannins are raging and the finish is dry which makes this a little unapproachable at this age. Open in 2020+. — 10 years ago
One of my favorite roses. Keeping up with the vintages. I'll be buying this through the summer. Up front acid and a nice finish, — 10 years ago
Bright, suave and savory! A gem of a burg. — 10 years ago
Yumm, fresh, vibrant, awesome Mourvedre — 11 years ago
2009 in June 2018. Wow, what a wine. Big earth and red fruit, very concentrated, let it breathe for an hour and it’s perfect. — 7 years ago
Gorgeously delicious, light colored Cherry tart. Not bad drinking under harbor City lights — 7 years ago
Tight as a field mouse's larynx. Needs a good three hours of decanting to open up. Ah, but when it does... Cherry iced cream, raspberry ketchup, and lots and lots of peppered strawberries. Primary zest versus secondary structure. However, it's still mysteriously closed - will it ever fully open?
I've heard some harsh words about this producer so this bottle, my first encounter with them, certainty came as a bit of a pleasant surprise. — 8 years ago
This is a must try. Best to let open for at least an hour — 9 years ago
Very pleasant, fruity and crisp, not too complex but did an excellent job accompanying the pumpkin soup — 9 years ago

Great rosé! — 11 years ago
My first CLF. Aromatically, this wine is ready for business which surprised me given the Cru and vintage. Red cherries, Vosne spices, and a bit of wildness, but a tamed wildness. Guessed this as Vosne Romanee. Would love to see how this develops further. — 7 years ago
Some brett on the nose which blew off quickly. Then dark cherry, acai and pomegranate with chalky elements - an excellent classic burgundy from a good vintage with the elegance expected from a Chambolle - well worth the wait. Over dinner at Ponsaty's in Rancho Santa Fe. — 8 years ago
I had the chance to visit J Vineyards in 2015, and was impressed (no pun intended) by the large Coquard press flanking the processing bay of the winery. The Coquard press is traditionally used by Champagne houses, and is extremely gentle. J's Brut Rosé is as I remember it, fresh and vivacious, brimming with red apple skins, fresh from the market raspberries, and white flowers. The color of rose gold, the attack is clean and bright, kissed with pomegranate, pomelo and limestone that meanders to a lingering finish. — 8 years ago
For a liquid, this is pretty solid! Don't know the producer. — 9 years ago
2011 vintage, Clos Vougeot, in half bottle at the domaine. Deep concentrated, black fruited, spicy nose. On the palate, fleshy and round, but there's an astringency and dryness from unintegrated tannins that make this unapproachable for me right now (just like the Aux Combottes). Don't open for another 7 years. — 10 years ago
2nd time buying this bottle. The 2012 is delicious! — 10 years ago
sweet mineral goodness, light raspberry. — 10 years ago
Bigger bubbles but great yeasty fruitiness! — 11 years ago
Je ne suis pas un fan de beaujolais mais celui la est particulièrement bon! — 12 years ago

Gentle yet alluring spices and flowers on the nose. Still some reduction which was not unlike Cathiard. Despite the great nose, it lacked the complexity and finish of a grand cru. A Vosne kind of Gevrey. — 7 years ago
