This was a very well-balanced but subtle chardonnay. Less acidic than the Chablis I have been drinking. — a month ago

Les Coteaux Cornas Syrah 2003

Real Sleeper - figured this was going to be tired & over the hill, but it was glorious! Needed 90 minutes to really open up but then it unfurled with pure black & blue fruits interspersed w/tar, leather, minerals, florals, meat & spice all wrapped in finely grained tannins wrapped in velvet. This was a product of the insanely hot 03 vintage, but this is an absolute complete wine - a gem. — 21 days ago

Michel Rolland Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a gorgeous one from Napa.

Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, cooked cherries, chocolates, black currants, tobacco, vanilla, licorice, cedar, spices, light alcohol, eucalyptus and peppercorn.

Full bodied, bold and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cloves, spices, tobacco, chocolates, dark coffee, graphite and peppercorn.

Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries.

A delicious Cabernet Sauvignon Bordeaux blend from the great 2014 vintage. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Fruit forward, elegant and rich. Opulent and tasty. Shows great complexity already, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

I've had many wines from Michel Rolland, from all over the world, and I always enjoyed them. Never disappoints and always a pleasure.

Thank you Scott for sharing this beautiful wine with me.

Wine Enthusiasts 95 points. Robert Parker 96 points.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime, and good by itself as a sipping wine. No need for food at all, but will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (80% New). Only 370 cases produced. Some of the fruit come from To Kalon and Stagecoach Vineyards.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

96 points.

Mémoire de Vignes Champagne Pinot Noir 2014

Pop and pour, but notes from 2 hrs open. This taste comes from the last sip in the btl...what a hit tonight. On the nose: ripe canteloupe, salt, soft savory herbs, amazing wife offered to give me what was left in my glass, but said she'd take it if I didn't want it... Fantastic acidity, but melon, melon rind, perfect density. Better than the '12 or '13? Reminds me a touch of the '11, which was more savory. Yum. — 15 days ago

Meursault Chardonnay 2018

Nose has lemon zest, lemon slice, vanilla bean, crushing of flint, white wood smoke, room temperature butter, salt box and waxy yellow apple.

Palate has under-ripe pineapple, honeycomb, warm green apple, salty warm lemon, pulverized flint; concentration is amazing, finish is minutes.

Wow, Meursault I already ❤️ thee, but this is next level.

Decanted +3H, then double decanted for service tonight.

Clos du Ferré Vieilles Vignes Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie 2019

Superb nose of citrus (lemon, yuzu, even grapefruit) and a bit chalk. This is very inviting! The palate is very well made, with a wonderful fruity note all along, an almost sweet mouthfeel, and a long finish with that citrusy note which lasts a long while. It paired very well with a plate of pasta alla vongole and with some well aged French cheeses. — 12 days ago

When we are on the bassin d'arcachon, this is a go to meal. I should have added that we picked the vongole ourselves, knee-deep in the mud 😂 those little pleasures...
