Very special opportunity to try this ~30 year old GSM from one of my favorite winemakers. Dark spicy fruit still very much alive with enchanting secondary characteristics--smokey mesquite / campfire, earth, rocks, leather on both nose and palate. Thanks @Max Kogod! Got any more? 🙂 — 7 years ago
1958 vintage. From Jay. 1958 Bartolo Mascarello - Brief Note from Galloni Historical Retrospective Held in London April 26, 2016. From 1.9L format. Very light rose colour. Typical nose of crushed roses and violets mixed with ancient saddle leather and a hint of very old crushed mint. The wine still posses good fruit although it is clearly in the twilight of its life. Some medicinal elements on the palette but these are enjoyable and well integrated. Otherwise the palette is both ethereal and elegant. It has both poise and elegance and remains a gorgeous expression of Nebbiolo despite its maturity. Fraises sauvages, raspberries, and hints of slightly unripened pomegranate blend together seamlessly. The finish is smooth with medium length. I have been fortunate enough to have this wine on three separate occasions in the last twelve months and my notes have been consistent. 96/100. Drink Now. — 8 years ago
Love North Rhone Syrah.
Pure game with a little smoke, white pepper and bright fruit. I have a total bias for this style of wine. — 8 years ago

2015 is delicious. Soft and rich enough to drink now, but still a nice light mineral backbone. Lemon meringue, white flowers. — 7 years ago
Longueur moyenne +. Encore 5 à 7 ans en bouteille lui fera grand bien — 7 years ago

Vintage 2012 — 8 years ago
The nose displayed a dark and fascinating bouquet of crushed blackberry, smoke, grilled meats, animal musk, mint leaf, and floral undergrowth. On the palate, I found fresh and vibrant textures offset by rich red fruits, granular minerality, hints of pepper, inner floral and earth tones. The finish was long, resonating on a mix of wild berries, spice and savory herbs. — 8 years ago

1993 vintage. From Jay. the cork on this bottle was pulled approximately two hours prior to being decanted. the wine was poured immediately post decanting.
the colour of the wine immediately grabs your attention. a glorious ruby hue worthy of a gemstone. perfect translucency and frankly a joy to observe. pinot juice as perfect as it can possibly look, majestically glinting in the tables candle light. after being allowed to gently open in the glass the wine displayed a degree of feminine ferality in a most pleasant manner. with time this was complemented by fraises sauvages, crushed black forest fruits and cuban tobacco wrapper. the feral element continued to present through a very slight earthiness and tones of wild mushrooms. this eventually gave way to crushed violets and roses which eventually poured over the glass and across the table. quite wonderful. the body was full with great complexity and finesse. this wine has tremendous power. its balance was beguiling and the combination of femininity on the nose with a gracefully powerful structure and depth of fruit truly provided the best of both worlds with an astounding finish. this is an epic wine which frankly ticks every box and is certainly within its drinking window. the acidity and abundant levels fruit still mean that this wine has many years ahead of it but frankly i'd be hard pressed to hold off. in short, this is a dessert island wine. 100/100

Not that familiar with Zin but had a good mouthfeel, not much tannin, strawberry up front and was good with steak. — 6 years ago
Three shades of Pinot. Texture and creamy heft, green apple, but cutting and determined. Some lil Debbie xmas tree cake but no sweetness. Honeydew and lilac — 6 years ago

New vintage of Les Enfants continued. More robust on the palate than previous vintages, but equally elegant. A true California interpretation of a Beaujolais. Can't wait to release! — 8 years ago
Bright & fresh. Meaty & smoky. Good balance and intensity but nowhere over the top. — 8 years ago

Note : A blood red robe, a traveler's nose on wild black fruits, spices and plum jam. On the palate, a nice roundness with rather short tannins. Notes of prunes and chocolate in the end. Nice and delicious

Une robe rouge sang, un nez voyageur sur les fruits noirs sauvages, épices et confiture de prune. En bouche, une belle rondeur avec des tanins plutôt courts. Des notes de pruneaux et chocolat en final. Agréable et délicieux.
