Domaine Le Prieure Des Papes

Château Le Prieure

Saint - Émilion Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

This was lovely. While still a baby, i needed to try this. Big nose after an hour of being open. Luscious mouthfeel but the tannins are tight, as they should be This could be a true gem in 5+ years. — 6 years ago

Domaine Albin Jacumin

La Bégude des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Lots of raspberry and plum on the nose, and some leather and sage as it opens up. Nice tannin and acidity with a smooth, strawberry finish. Very good. — 7 years ago

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

I have tried several examples of Prieure Lichine over the years. Some were great and others not so good. I was skeptical about 2004 and I shouldn’t have been. What a beautiful example of a mid life Bordeaux that is likely at or near it’s peak. Dry, earthy and tannic with a solid core of fruit. Well done. This can easily last another decade — 8 years ago

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Confidences de Prieuré-Lichine Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Confidences de Prieure Lichine is the second label of the renown Château Prieure Lichine. This being a 2010, was rather disappointing as it surprisingly still very young. Tasted of dark cherries and plum with a very dry finish. Not as silky and smooth as one might expect a margaux to be. It was worth a try but I will stick to their first label. — 10 years ago

Expression de Terroir Éclats Calcaires Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend

09 vintage: drinking beautifully, surprisingly lively on the palate, and not showing any sign of heat/XS alcohol which I often associate with this vintage. Medium bodied, quite plush, lovely bright red fruit characters with a "stony" background note. Very nice drink. — 11 years ago

Vieux Mas des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2003

2003- Don't be afraid of the vintage :) 80 Grenache knit beautifully w/ 20 Mourvedre. This was the precursor to VT's "Telegramme" bottling. Dark fruit & pronounced black pepper w/ a secondary savory/umami note. — 11 years ago

Guigal makes well priced wines which show off the various appellations well. St Cosme too. Any Kermit Lynch imports. The Perrin family. In the Northern Rhone, Crozes-Hermitage & St Joseph are good appellations to start with as you can find great wines which are well priced. In the South, Cotes du Rhone & the various villages, Vacqueyras, Lirac, Corbieres, Ventoux. Gigondas will show more structured wines in the South.

Eventually work your way to Cote Rotie, CDP & Hermitage & weep for your wallet. :)
