17. 2015. Syrah needn’t be mature Cote-Rotie or big and brassy Australian. This is simple and simply delicious. Terrific fruit, remarkably long. Think of a somewhat richer Jamet Cotes de Rhone. Don’t want to let it age. But I have 5 more bottles... — 7 years ago
Tres sympa ça, tout proche d'un st jo mais avec un peu de merlot qui le rends super goulayant! Vraiment abordable. — 8 years ago
Baby’s 1st parcela unica and gotta say, it delivered! I like the Envinate Lousas wines—they’re always pretty good but usually a bit green and not profundo imo. This one started that way but as it opened, the high acid rolled off to reveal an extremely terroir driven wine, ripping w tension and minerality. The Lousas mencias usually give fancy n rhone vibes to me (i.e. entry level jamet), but Seoane had more of a juicy mineral burg thing going on (think Irancy) than a meaty rock thing. The bride observed wisely that this wine tasted very mineral and oceanic, but more like a seaside cliff than a briny beach. — 2 years ago
Superb intensity and finesse. Beguiling in its ability to deliver concentration and elegance at once. Astoundingly long finish and just kept getting better with air. Jamet described his 2011s as silky - apparently true for Chave as well. Maybe not one for the ages, but this will be delicious in the near to mid term. — 8 years ago
Excellent Cabernet Franc from Loire to go with our fabulous beef dinners at Robert and Louis in Paris with Molly and Armand. — 5 years ago
I'll start off by saying that I think less-than-ideal storage conditions marred this tasting with Kai. It's a struggle here really because I really like their Malaysian importer. I can understand the difficulties in maintaining an effective cold chain in Malaysia, so I sincerely hope this gets better.
Having said that, this was my favorite in Kai's line-up despite the slightly advanced wine. Good perfume, sporting smokey black fruits, herbs, spices, violets, and wood (which was a touch distracting). I felt the palate should have been livelier - dark-fruited, spicy, and earthy, with heavy charred notes permeating throughout. The finish has a lot fruit sweetness, with a lick of caramel and balsamic. Nice wine, though not one I'd actively seek.
To be frank I think too much oak was used here, but not in the same liberty as in Barossa Shiraz. It's more like Guigal vs Gonon... maybe that's a bit extreme... Jamet vs Gonon... though not quite right still. I like Kai, but I gotta follow my palate at times like this. — 6 years ago
Neck and neck with the jamet tonight but in need of so much time. More roasted dark fruit notes. Brooding — 8 years ago

Sooo seems 2010 Northern Rhône is ready! After a stunning 2010 Jamet in recent weeks I was inspired to try ‘10 Allemand. A multi-hour decant has it simply rocking, wafting distinctive, captivating Allemand aromatics of deep dark fruit, olive tapenade, charcuterie, violets and a liquid rock minerality. It’s at the point where fresh primary fruit meets the cusp of secondary, tertiary character. The palate is silky, vibrant and mineral with its structured tannins beginning to soften. I wonder how 2010 Reynard would compare. But Chaillot, with air, is most certainly ready, but of course only entering its prime drinking window. Love these wines! — a year ago
