Lean. Good mineral. A bit thin. Drink now or never. — 4 months ago
Bit candied — 5 months ago
My continued quest to try as many 2022 Burgundies as possible.
So, after my first sip, I stopped & went to grab one of these and got the last floor bottle. This is my red burgundy wheelhouse.
The nose is somewhat subtle at this stage. But is dark, somewhat big and definitely brooding. Slightly candied darker fruits with beautiful dark, fresh & withering florals framed in violets.
The palate shows beautiful, near perfect ripe fruits of; dark cherries, plum, poached strawberries with hues of purple & blue. There are fairly pronounced tannin profiles in all this wines in this tasting. This shows more than the others. The body/mouthfeel is excellent. Dry top soils, dry, crushed rock power, dry herbs, red cola, both licorices, soft, dark spices, light baking spices, used tobacco, dry leather, a bit of lightly grilled meats, dry river stone, dry brush, bright red & dark florals framed in violets, excellent acidity and a excellent finish that is well; structured, balanced with elegance and last two-minutes.
10 plus years of cellaring will yield another two points.

The balance of mineral undertone with pops of apricot was $$. Would have let it breathe a bit longer but can’t complain overly — 2 years ago

Straw color, classic champagne notes in nose, brioche yeasty, good acidity to balance some richness, dry — 4 months ago
When the wife orders you to pull a nice chardonnay from the cellar, you obey immediately.
This was an exciting bottle with citrus on the nose. Orange peel, pear, roasted bread and citrus on the palate. Good concentration and acidity. Seamless integration. Still more to come with additional cellar time. — 5 months ago
Berries and cherries, with some earthy notes. Very nice finish, tannins soft and lingering. . Paired with duck breast and lamb leg. — 8 months ago
Aromas of lemon & verbena, nougat, marzipan & shortbread, crushed stones…but could a wine taste more yellow?!?! From lemon to pear, w golden delicious, mirabelle, quince, yuzu & star fruit ~ simultaneously rich yet electric w vibrant sappy juice, acidic core and a dusty mineral finish balancing the experience out! — 10 months ago

Tastes like new yeR !! 🎉 — 4 months ago
Initially nice with red fruits, opening up with more forest floor after about 15 mins. 30 mins later, the heat of the vintage comes out. So, really enjoyable, but only for a pretty narrow window of time. — 5 months ago
Wow clean and beautiful burgundy — 5 months ago
Epic vintage that is just starting to open up. Accessible but a lot more complexity should develop with time, based on the secondary characteristics that started to show with air — 6 months ago
Light and poised with lime, slate and cool stone. Pretty and focused. Limpid. Very good. — 7 months ago
Happy Bastille Day! Joyeux 14 juillet! 🇫🇷
A great day to sip something fabulous and French, like this 2020 Maison Joseph Drouhin Clos des Mouches. 🍷
Maison Joseph Drouhin is a dynamic, family-run estate, established by Joseph Drouhin in 1880 in the Beaune region of Burgundy. It’s now run by Joseph’s four great-grandchildren – Philippe, Véronique, Laurent, and Frédéric – with operations spanning from Burgundy to the Dundee Hills of Willamette Valley, Oregon (Domaine Drouhin). 🫶🏻🫶🏻
This wine has a medium ruby hue and an array of aromas and flavors such as strawberry, raspberry, cherry (red and black), mulberry, rose, spice, potpourri, black licorice, forest floor, toast, vanilla bean, crème brûlée, nutmeg, star anise, cardamom, and clove.
It aged 14-18 months in French oak (25% new), lending those baking spice, vanilla, and confectionery notes.
On the palate, it is dry, with vibrant acidity, creating tension, and a medium (+) body, with warming alcohol (14% ABV), medium tannins that are polished and velveteen, and a lingering finish.
This is an outstanding wine capable of long-term aging with potential to gain complexity unveiling additional tertiary dimensions over time. 🕰️ — 10 months ago
