Perfect with duck but still needs some cellar time...perhaps 3 more years. — 7 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening to enjoy Andris Nelsons conducting the BSO in their first complete performance of Wagner's "Das Rheingold" at this venue, very exciting! We enjoyed "Die Walküre" last summer, so even though they're playing out of sequence, we're blessed to hear it none the less.
Tonight we have a Crémant de Bourgogne from Savigny-les-Beaune. Apparently 'Oeil de perdrix' translates as 'eye of the partridge' because of the light rose color of the wine. I get that, but sounds like marketing magic to me. Citrus, raspberry and mineral palate, toast and yeast are well balanced, tasty. — 8 years ago

On the nose it was bright and citrusy, on the pallet, some citrus, strawberry, watermelon, apple and vanilla. It left my mouth watering for more! — 10 years ago

An earthy cousin of Malbec. Very distinct taste. — 9 years ago
Tasty tavel! Watermelon candy, strawberry and raspberry syrup, fresh picked basil/tarragon, enough earth to go around, voluptuous body, lengthy finish. — 9 years ago
At the boundary of acceptable high acidity, thanks to rich minerals. limited creaminess, yet long and heavy on palate. Very humble and natural reflection of the vine.

Œil de Perdrix Brut Rose — 10 years ago
Saving this baby for a special occasion and it didn’t disappoint. Vibrant red fruits were in perfect balance with the earth flavors, acid, oak, and tannin. When I go to Burg this is what i want. Only critique is I wish I gave it just a couple more years in the bottle for tertiary flavors to develop. — 6 years ago
Spot-on, classic, perfectly delineated Saint Joseph. This is the elegant and pretty side of Syrah. Flowing waves of violets and black pepper lift effortlessly out of the glass with bright red fruits. Mid palate is silk and nearly weightless with fine tannins. Low alcohol and neutral oak profile allow for a very pure expression. Hints of game on the finish with a lingering minerality and a fresh, spicy peppercorn character that would be lovely with a variety of meats and herbs. Beautiful wine that I look forward to revisiting over the next 2-3 years. — 7 years ago

Limes, strawberries, and a touch of cranberry. Crisp. Maybe expected more from a belle glos, but this is enjoyable. — 5 years ago
