Robert Michel

La Geynale Cornas Syrah 2004

Drinking 2004, 2005 and 2006 of La Geynale. I think the last 3 vintage of Robert Michel, isn'it?
Amazing how those 3 vintages are aligned and consistent!
2004 is immediately super powerful and true. Very intense. 2005 takes a lot of time to open up. First very closed and quite a lot of alcohol vapors, bit after 3-4 hours, it's getting there, may be the more intense. 2006 is much easier, closer to northern neighbors in Hermitage or Croze Hermitage.
But still all is super consistent, and super traditional.

Woah, weird. Smells of pepper and game, but then it's ultra slick and smooth. They de-Stem 100%, so the tannins are completely rounded out. Good intro Croze. — 10 years ago

Exceptional clarity of color, a pale white. Explosive aromatics of juicy floral floral fruit. A touch one dimensional on the palette but the finish is electric acid wonderland. — 10 years ago

Mas Granier

Les Grès Coteaux du Languedoc

Leather, black cherry, licorice, and some cinnamon on the nose. Medium bodied. Rich impression of fruit on the palate—black cherry and licorice. Some chalky minerality. Nice balance of elements. This bottle has been open for two days now and the depth has, um, deepened...
A Languedoc GSM and pretty darn good!

P.F Manchuela Bobal 2014

MICHAEL COOPER DipWSET
9.0

I'm giving it a 9 because #Bobal is a difficult grape and this wine is elegant and well balanced. It's logical that others have said tannic because the grape itself is very thick skinned and tannic and this wine uses some #wholecluster and the combination produces a medium- chewy tannin to the finish of this wine. P F stands for Pie Franco which means original pre philoxera rootstock. Nice wine. For me it's more reminiscent of a Croze Hermitage than a Malbec. — 10 years ago

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Ming L
9.0

When this went on sales, I had my reservation. Oakville AVA juice from a very good 2013 vintage for $29? Well, what a surprise! Medium to full body. Red cherry, mint, black currant, herbs. Vivid acidity with slight sweet undertone. Gripping tannins. Not a big and powerful Napa cab, but it's beautifully structured and well balanced. Just let it breath for at least 90 minutes before serving. Grape is from the famed Money Road Vineyard. I'm pretty sure this is the lowest-priced Oakville cab on the market. — 9 years ago

La Croze Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2009

Tres Bon!! Lots of spice and very fruit forward. Really softened up after an hour decant. Full bodied Rhone, but primarily Grenache which explains the spice. Long, pleasant finish. Yummy. — 9 years ago
