2012. Special selection off of the wine list at Miller Union in Atlanta. The nose and flavor initially had a taste of Cointreau or Blood Orange. — 9 years ago
Over ice with a twist. Musty and earthy, distant sweetness, bitter finishing with the gentian. — 10 years ago
Best of the Best. I prefer it over Grand Marnier and Cointreau. This was one of the first bottles to be in the US! — 10 years ago
Plum greatness — 10 years ago
Aged in Banyuls casks, this French whiskey is my 2nd favorite in the world. Took me 10 years of looking to finally get it. — 10 years ago
Mellowed and prettier. Peaches. As with all the brandies, hand seeded. — 11 years ago
Lovely amaro - especially paired with ricotta cake and crema. — 12 years ago
Pours a striking golden, almost cat pee color. Showing oxidative notes initially. After some air and coming up to temp, it’s started to show its best. Aromas of burnt toast and Cointreau. On the palate it’s tangy tropical fruits. Lingering finish. Remarkable showing considering its age. Drink now at no less than 50°F and let it breath for at least 30 minutes. Trust me. — 7 years ago
In English and French.
Whisky !
- Kavalan Solist Vinho barrique. 59.4%
Single Malt. Taïwan.
Matured in White and Red wine oak.
Distilled in mars 2010. Bottled july 2015.
212 bottles in the world.
Single Cask. Cask Strenght.
Taïwan is an isle south Est of China.
Kavalan is in the North. Hot and wet climate.
The Angels'share is more important : 10% each year. Scotland : 1% each year.
And the maturation is faster. For exemple, a 7 years old Kavalan Whisky will look like to a 18+ years old Scotch. Impressive.
Best Single malt and best of the best for the 2015 world whiskys ?
The fact ???
Lets try it !!
The color is impressive. Dark brown. Beautiful.
Just 2 cl in the glass and ... explosion !
Old cedar, pine wood, nuts, fresh vanilla, passion fruit, mango and coconut, red fruits to !!. Original.
Love it !
59.4% alcool.... strong, but fatty, so easy to drink. Red fruits, cherry, pine wood, exotics fruits : mango and passion fruit.
Nice balance, you can feel a little sweet sensation.
The finish : cassis, dark chocolate and leather.
Long, very long.
An impressive whisky with high density and good complexity. Best whisky in the world??? That's totaly subjective. For me ? No, but one of the best i ever tried !
Now, in France the price is around 250 euros. Dont know for other country.
☆ Kavalan Solist Vinho barrique. 59.4%
Cask Strength. Single Cask
On s'y perd !

Very interesting. Notes of Cointreau, lime zest, and nuts with a light body and lingering yeasty character. — 10 years ago

The best Poiré in the world. Stat. — 11 years ago
Pale garnet with orange rim. Volcanic fairy dust presents quickly on nose, then dehydrated plum, Cointreau, brown sugar, Worschestershire, nettle, clove, black olive, campfire ash. Palate brings med+/high- acid, high tannin, med+ alc, flavors of tart red cherry, black olive, brown spice, fairy dust minerality, cigar paper, American Spirits. Long finish, improving with air and thank you *tres much* — 11 years ago
Today's Tour de France wine is fascinating. Wild cherry sweet wine. — 12 years ago
Aroma has nothing to do with when it hits the palate. Not very sweet. Perfect with cheese I would say. Even blue cheese — 7 years ago
Flower bomb! — 7 years ago
@Todd Abrams I was feeling frisky so I opened this guy up. I guess I was expecting something like a lemonhead candy. Surprise. There is lemon there more like a lemon edge followed by something nutty. Maybe almonds. That's what I usually get with all of these palate cleansers. Very enjoyable. Thanks dude!! — 8 years ago
You can taste the care that went into cazottes' brandies. Such brilliance, purity and open heartedness rush at you all at once. — 9 years ago
Quite deep colour with an almost orange tinge. Bouquet is quite musky, again with orange notes. A smooth and luxuriously thick mouthfeel but needs to be well chilled to prevent that becoming flabby. A lip-smacking lemon meringue and orange / cointreau flavour. A very good value everyday drinking wine. — 10 years ago
