I believe this was a one off production for Booker. Jada Vineyard is located near Denner.
I followed this over two days and if I would have guessed blind, there is no way I would have guessed 60% Grenache on either day (although day 2 showed more finesse and lift) as it seems more dominant Syrah. This is high-toned and juicy. Great nose to it. Aromatically, there is licorice, melted dark chocolate, ripe and baked dark fruits, herbs de Provence, and charcoal. It’s already fairly soft and plush on the palate. Bite of tannin and heat toward the mid palate and finish, but it’s certainly not as heavy or dense as you’d expect. Grenache shows up briefly with some pepper and a small reveal of dried red fruits at the core. I think this is in a good drinking window. I believe @Paul T- Huntington Beach helped me get my hands on one of these a while back... — 4 years ago

A gift from Cris Cherry when I was out in Paso for my 50th birthday (which was an AWESOME celebration thanks to my wife and some dear friends who mean everything to me), this is the first Villa Creek that I ever had (at Cris' restaurant). Amazed at the intensity of the fruit still present (maybe a function of the screwcap?), this wine was way more impressive than I was expecting for a 12+-year-old wine. Definitely past peak but still boasting terrific flavors and balance, this is a great example of why Paso is the most exciting wine region to explore in California! — 8 years ago

A deep ruby GSM. Big fruit. Black and red fruit, with cranberry jam. Just a jam fest of flavor. Moderate tannins. Lingering finish. — 5 years ago
We bought this wine on our first trip to Paso in 2010 with the Kennedy's. It was hot and we tasted in Chris Cherry's barn tasting room. We also had dinner in his restaurant that night in Paso(Osso Bucco, I think with a CDP). This wine is still amazing, a fruit bomb even at years 12 old. Almost sweet, but also subtle. Glad that we will be going back this fall. By the way it's a screw top wine. — 7 years ago

A three-bottle-night was not the plan...but there you go. Terrific wine from Anthony Yount. Started off with Cris Cherry at Villa Creek, and now is making great wines at Denner, this is is red offering, which complements his amazing whites under his Kineros Cellars label (the “Alice” being the best grenache blanc you’ll find for the price anywhere in the world). Terrific grenache-driven blend, this is not one for long ageing, but a terrific one to open now. Well done, from one of the best young guns from Paso! — 4 years ago

Earthy nose, almost European. Big and brawny on the palate with dark plum, pencil lead, tar. Delicious and drinking right in the zone! — 8 years ago
This is a very good - but not great - incarnation of Cris Cherry's take on grenache. Gets the fruit from Denner, I believe, this wine had an odd component on the initial nose that actually reminded me of a beaujolais nouveau (i.e., the carbonic maceration component). That dissipated after ca. 20 minutes to reveal some terrific red and blue fruits on the palate. There's sufficient acidity to keep it moving, so I suspect that it will shed some baby fat over the next 1-2 years and become far more interesting. A good wine now that's fun to drink but one that will likely improve with a bit of time (but not too much time!). — 8 years ago
