A very good wine- full of pomegranate flavor. Tart, but not too sweet. A well balance of flavor and tart. This is a seasonal wine and highly recommend. Was well worth the $18 for a bottle. A nice wine to sit, relax and enjoy or to pair with a nice cheese or chicken. Will definitely buy this wine again. — 7 years ago
Dark red fruit and lots and lots of chocolate on the nose. Hints of sweetness as well but I can't really pinpoint what it is. Vanilla? Medium full body and enough acidity to keep it fresh. Paired well with deer, roasted potatoes, beets and brusselsprouts, and a creamy port wine sauce. — 8 years ago
Tasted January 2014
Deep ruby to dark garnet, St. Laurent Ausstich is "selection of the best barrels of the vintage". Smoked cherries, herbs and forest berries dominate on the bouquet. Palate is juicy, with chokeberries and soft wooden tartness, slightly straight. Sour cherry and oak hints on meduim length finish. Overall - pretty nice wine with velvety structure, balanced and elegant to some extent. Suits roe deer sliced and cooked in onion sauce. — 9 years ago

If Lorraine would only let John get rid of the deer around their property, everyone could enjoy this wine more often!!! — 12 years ago
A delightful Pinot. On the nose graphite, smoke, licorice, and tart cherries. On the palate bright cherries, leather, dark berry medley, anise, sweet pipe tobacco, with hints of game. While not generally my style this is a PN I actually wouldn’t mind having on hand due to it being a quality, approachable expression. — 7 years ago
Sweet but not overpowering. Very light for a red. — 8 years ago
Bright, herbal with earth tones. Solid wine to celebrate the Warriors game 2 W. — 8 years ago
Typical Cahors Malbec wine as introduced by brother-in-law Bob van Riel on December 22. 2015 during pre-Christmas diner (and 86 birthday of mother-in-law Alice "Tins" van Riel). Very nice dark red blend and perfect company for a stew of deer, prunes and brandy. Red fruit, high percentage of alcohol and string taste. We love the Cahors surroundings and are fund of the Malbec blend. — 9 years ago

Sweet. Like a Riesling. — 11 years ago
This is the style of Pinot Noir that has wine enthusiasts around the world going gaga over Pinot. Ripe red fruits, like raspberries, strawberries and cherries are highlighted by subtle spice and rounded out by delicate, yet pronounced acidity. It’s lush and velvety mouthfeel creates a super elegant wine that is delicate, yet complex – a gorgeous Pinot Noir. — 11 years ago

When: 17/01-18
Price: 169 swe kr.
Served: With fallow deer stew served with assorted roots.
Colour: Deep red and almost black in the middle.
Smell: Big smell of forest blackberries and cherries. Tones of bay leaf, perfume. Needs more time to open up.
Taste: Dry, a very nice balance between tannins and fruit with long lasting tannins that gives a nice black pepper flavour.
Rich with dark berries and spices.
A beautiful and tasty syrah!

2009 vintage. Soft mature medoc perfect for drinking now. Tannins just right. Black currant fruit, peppery palate and faint green pepper finish. We drank this while eating pigeon Rossini and grilled deer. Good accompaniment for both - flavour complemented the meats but did not overwhelm. — 9 years ago
Smells funky. Savoury goodnes. Goes very well with the deer — 10 years ago

Vintage 2014 / I never forget my visit to the ‘Bure Alto’ vineyard, because I was impressed how high the vines were tied and grown. It’s an amazing site. This wine has a compelling smell: warm, spices, coffee, mocca and even chocolate. Smooth drinking with deer goulash and stewed bell pepper. #valpolicella #ripasso — 7 years ago
