A drop-dead gorgeous Syrah and a new winery for me, the 2018 Syrah from Damascene in Stellenbosch is an attractive, muscular showing of the variety and would give many a Cornas a good run for their money. Classic and unmistakable aromas of blackberry, fig paste, charred bacon and violets lead to a full bodied palate that carried through well to the finish. Showing far better on the second night, I’d love to track this wine as it ages. — 2 years ago
