This white wine always intrigues me. From the Lazio region of Italy made by Trappist nuns. Trebbiano, Malvasia ahd Verdicchio grapes. Very chalky, minerals, crisp apple, orange rind, oily. Very off-the-beaten-path style wine but great cold on a hot summer day. — 9 years ago
Light clear ruby--pinkish tinge. Potent nose of leather, rose, unripe cherry pit, tar, and a hint of oregano. Clear grippy chewy sucking tannins. Raw and bright on the palate, aromatic finish. This is my first Nebbiolo, and it's got strong delicious aspects that are clearly different from any other red varietal or blend I've had yet. [Rating it off of its first day: tannins, nose and finish all mellowed deleteriously overnight.] — 9 years ago
Ive been trying to have a theme each week. Either grape varietal or region or technique etc. this month - everything must be on sale! Found this gem for $3 off. #tempranillo will never go wrong. A nose of dark raspberry jam sans the sweetness is married to blackberry notes on the finish. Crisp to bitter on the palate and does not linger. Low acid. Little tannin. Enjoyed without food, late evening, took the edge of too many coffees from a day of work at the firehouse. — 9 years ago
A brilliant red...and a nice drop to top off a fabulous day! Don't ask the price, bloody expensive in singapore! Thanks baby. — 10 years ago
HAPPY GRENACHE DAY!!! This 2012 Hobo Grenache comes from Sceales Vineyard in Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. Winemaker/Owner Kenny Likitprakong dropped off his kid at school one day, and the teacher said her father was having problems selling his grapes- turned out to be 80 year old dry farmed Grenache from this vineyard. Lots of black & red cherry w/ spice, tar, and lush, lush texture. Great w/ BBQ and spicy food. — 11 years ago
Starting the day off! Does not suck! — 11 years ago
Gorgeously saline, an initial plasticine aroma blows off to reveal orange blossom, roasted pecan, citrus peel, maple candy. Vicious acidity marries will with off-dryness but the acid carries the day. Finish lasts a solid minute. I love this as much as I hate port. — 8 years ago
This Sauternes is a true gem! Unctuous roasted peaches, dried apricots, orange blossom water, and candied orange rind play off of the heady saffron aroma and flavor. I could drink this every day paired with absolutely anything. This is perfection in a bottle. — 9 years ago
A burly, intense wine, better on the second day, developing some notes of canned lychee or peach in syrup to go with the heavy Diesel/petrol notes dominating both nose and palate. Finish sort of drops right off, leaving a plastic/curiously blank note. Interesting but not perfect. — 9 years ago
Its a special Thanksgiving day at the laundromat. We're starting off with slight, subtle white with cheese and charcuterie. The wine is light & crisp. The wine is straw colored with notes of apricot and light oak — 9 years ago

Popped and poured through a Soirée. This was firing on all cylinders right from the get go. Beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers and crushed red raspberries and tea. Had that ethereal thing going that's found in the more honest BdM's. Tannins have softened considerably since my last bottle which makes me wonder if there could be some bottle variation. This was delicious with pasta all'arrabbiata. After about three hours, however, it fell off a cliff. It became really disjointed and started to smell a bit like varnish. The next day didn't yield any better results. This bottle was clearly on the decline. I'll try another bottle soon and see if it's the same experience. My advice, zero decant and enjoy with a meal in the near term. — 11 years ago
Kicking off this Turkey Day right and getting my Riesling on! What are you starting the day with? — 11 years ago
You know it's a good vacation when you've actually lost track of what day of the week it is! This wine is just beautiful and drinking so well right now. Blackberry and creme de cassis explode on the nose and on the palate as well. Slight hint of chocolate as well but the fruit flavors lead here with the slightest sweetness. It's lush and full bodied with tannins that are nicely integrated at this point but still leave some dryness in the mouth. This is beautiful and will be fun to try this again in a year or two (if I can keep my hands off it!). — 8 years ago
As I put my sweet baby girl to bed after a looong day, snuggling with her in her new "big girl bed", I found a stray eyelash on her cheek. Maybe I'm alone in this, but for as long as I can remember I have been superstitiously transferring these from one finger to another...and if I blow the lash off while making a wish, "they" say it will come true. I tried wishing this was a 2007 Screaming Eagle - or that I could magically be beamed onto David Lentine's Napa trip for the night (ha!). Alas, no such luck. Seriously thou, with my kids' lashes, I have always wished the same thing: "may you have a wonderful life." But I made this addition: "may you always have the courage to be yourself." #inthistogether #overturnHB2 #onlylove — 9 years ago
Delightful, elegant, and perfect for drinking off a 24 hour travel day. — 10 years ago
Another spectacular Cabernet from my favorite wineries in Napa. Had the 2012 vintage with some young Gouda an it really sets it off. Stil, it's a bit young in my mind and would be fantastic in a few years. Definitely standouts in my mind as one of the best cabs I've had in a while. Wonderful fullness with soft and integrated tannins. And layers of black cherry, blueberries and coca dance around your tongue as it is sipped. Gonna have it with some awesome authentic german goulash. A perfect finish to a nice day in the South Bay. — 10 years ago
Nice and refreshing, and very soft with a round flavor, especially for this 90 degree Sonoma day. Yum. Server let me finish off the bottle for extra awesome. — 11 years ago
