Needs time to open. Dry, leather, tannins. — 10 years ago
Tasted in 2011 and 2013. This is evolving into a beautiful wine. The oak is quite forward on the nose but the rich dark fruits shine through on the palate with pepper and anise on the finish. Drinking very well now but good for another 3 to 4 years. — 10 years ago

One of my favorite whites over the last couple years, faintly sweet but packed with melon, white flowers and minerals. — 11 years ago

Very funky, meaty notes, tight, unsure where this will go. — 9 years ago
Cedar, malt milo, raspberry, yoyo biscuit and fresh Blackcurrant have been the aromas showing tonight. I do know this wine can show beautiful leather, stalky notes and earthy aromas but it simply did not last long enough. Precise fruit, tannin targets the front palate but acid plays a backing role. Great wine. — 10 years ago
In your face full on liquid apricots, quinces, nectar. — 10 years ago
Lovely Cab. Very similar to D'Arenberg Cab Coppermibe road. Dark fruit, long finish with silky tannins. Recommended. — 10 years ago
Light and refreshing. I don't care for wines that are too sweet or dry, so this fit the bill. — 10 years ago
Elegant, soft tannins, beautiful blackberry jam nose — 11 years ago
Dark earthy. Powerful plum and hard spice. $90 — 12 years ago
Yes that's crab behind. — 12 years ago

There's value here. Now need to try the Dead Arm. — 9 years ago
California butter, oak, buttered popcorn, citrus, and white florals on the nose. Palate also shows the same buttery oaky notes, but not as strong as some CA Chardonnay's. However, the mouthfeel does show it did spend some extra time on lees as it's creamy. Palate of; Lemon/lime, grapefruit, green apple, the oak on the palate shows a softer presence, secondary fruits are tropicals with dominate green melon, white flowers with good acidity and nice freshness. Spent 7 months in hogshead barrels (300 liters). Photos show the d'Arenberg cube that stands on the high hilltop. Opens later this year. I must say it really doesn't fit well into the McLaren Vale natural landscape in the other photo. Wonder how they got the plans approved with the MV Council?💰💰 — 9 years ago
Amidst it's other notes this wine, atomically, I've found to be so reminiscent of young coonawarra Cabernets with a freshness of black currant. It's taken half a day to truly show itself but this certainly has plenty of interest — 10 years ago

Super good with a few years age. Classic mclaren bakes notes of eucalyptus, dark chocolate and blackberry. Very very good. I miss Aussie wines and have been craving a massive one for long while — 8 years ago
