128-yr. old vines. Super-rich, but I wish they had picked a bit earlier. This winery sources great Zin fruit from unique historical sources but they’re always over 15%. I cant help but think the wines would be more interesting and flexible if they picked earlier. In any event, this is quite good and shows very ripe Zin character, but the acids are low and the effect of some bottle age is a flatter mouthfeel. Still very good. — 6 years ago
Herbal, savory, Sage, scorched earth and orange peel rind. Delicate and very pretty. — 8 years ago
Fresh and well balanced. The best of the lineup IMHO. — 10 years ago
$17 very bold, slightly earthy but smooths strong fruit but not aweet — 11 years ago
Very fruity. Black cherry and blackberry aromas and some notes of cinnamon, then balanced fruit and baking spices that tingle the tongue and linger on. What Goes with That: Fall Sweets Class, pairing: pumpkin pie. — 3 years ago
Natural Zinfandel recommended when I asked for something not as tart. Slightly mushroomy / peppery finish, very enjoyable. Purchased from Gemini Bottle Co — 5 years ago
Clear deep red-violet Boysenberry on sight
Clean sandy berry aroma
Dry, med+ acidity, fine tannin, lighter side of medium body, red fruit and dark berry in the finish. Delicious now, could age. Needs a nice decant, great to watch evolve in glass too (air wakes up the tannins and elevates the red fruit notes)
Hooray and Keep up the good work 140+ yr old vines!

Michael Cruse’s wines deserve more recognition than they receive. His single vineyard bottlings are spectacular. His style is lean, fruity, and a dedicated employment of whole cluster press.
This Evangelho Carignan has a deep purple color in a medium, full body. There is bright blackberry, oak, and sandalwood. Intensely concentrated, on the serious structured side of the spectrum for the Cruse portfolio. — 6 years ago
Very enjoyable. Almost to the tee what I would expect for an elegant Zin. Macerated fruit, warm spice, solid tannic structure. Love those old vines. Not overly jammy either. Would love to try an older vintage just to see how it would mature. Had it with plain old cheese, wafer crisps and grapes. Lovely — 7 years ago

Funky Cab Franc different compared to the traditional Loire Valley. Funky and different in all the best ways though. Refreshing and takes a slight chill well. — 4 years ago
Fantastic, delicious, slight raisin/fig in the finish (beautiful & delicious), tannin needs 3 years; sprite woody, will mellow nicely. — 6 years ago
Lots of sweet berry. Realty good — 6 years ago

Interesting Carignane from vines planted in the 1890s. Rustic wine brimming with wild strawberry and pomegranate fruit. Violet notes with spice and lively acidity on the finish. — 7 years ago
The nose on this is scrumptious, and it tastes as good as it smells. It was our favorite tasting at the Cline family cellars. — 7 years ago
2012 drinking very well. Blackberry chocolate, a little stone fruit around the edges; satisfying. Fine tannins at the right level of grip. — 9 years ago
This 1997 Cline ZIN was unbelievable!! The age has perfected it! — 10 years ago
Smooth yumminess in a glass. — 11 years ago

Spiced jam with a hint of floral notes. Layered and hard to nail down the exact bouquet, but it’s delicious. — 2 years ago
