Jammy smooth. Tannic — 8 years ago
A splurge. This bistro has a remarkable wine cellar, which I'd like to adopt as my own! But just one bottle, and this was an excellent choice by Valerie. It took the whole meal to establish its personality, which is bold and complicated. — 9 years ago
Maybe not the best choice for a summer's day, but it is certainly an extravagant one.
Cassis, coffee, black fruits and kirsch on the nose. On the palette, the wine seems to have shed some puppy fat. It has evolved to become less viscous and more delineated. Excellent balanced structure, complicated with tobacco, smoke, maraschino cherries and cinnamon. Finishes long and sweet, with a plush texture. This is an excellent single vineyard, 100% cab blockbuster. — 9 years ago
2011 Extraordinary, like no other wine. Complicated aromas of dried fruit and chervil along with some petrol-like notes. Silky texture, acidity snuggling with considerable extract in a fur blanket. If silver had a drinkable form, it would be this (@wdgildon). Long. — 10 years ago
Dry and complicated yet tasty. I'm picturing sipping this by the fire. This is not so much a Southern summer as an Autumn or Winter wine- but I also think of seasonality in weather and food as part of what my attraction. This is tasty. — 10 years ago
2013 Complicated Chardonnay. Very varietal, very fun. — 11 years ago
Impressive.. Complicated and thoughtful. Earthy, vanilla crisp and touch of blackberry — 11 years ago
It's very complicated, full concentrated and rich in aromas champagne. Nose is fresh with abundance of ripe yellow stone fruits. On the palate excellent balance, elegant body (med), fresh acidity (med+) and long succulent finish. — 11 years ago
With my wife. The wine was pale lemon in colour and offered bouquet of flowers, citrus, peach, orange peel, almond, fresh sea breeze and mineral notes on the nose. On the palate the wine showed white flowers, stone fruit, peach, orange peel and almond, complicated by a salty mineral touch, paired with medium-level acidity, a great, buttery mouthfeel, and very good length. The medium- to full-bodied wine had good complexity and tasted concentrated yet fresh. A great Condrieu! 92 — 11 years ago
This is a nice, youthful St Emilion that has not had the chance to develop the manure, bretty side. Still quite a bit of raspberry on the nose, black cherry on the entry. Wine is medium bodied. There was a 95 St Emilion that I was not able to record, and compared to that wine, this one was much more complicated and intricate. Tannins still rather present, but don't really mute the finish of the wine all that much. Not too sure that this one is worth the price tag. — 8 years ago
Beautifully complicated, tastes like botritis grapes before t not, just aged. — 8 years ago
Really like this...and the price! Tangy but not too fruity. Deep notes that balance out the cherry tartness. The kind of deep complicated flavor that works for me, with just a touch of sweetness — 9 years ago
Complicated & beautiful Grand Cru Classé. — 9 years ago
Smooth red. Slight spiciness in back of throat. — 10 years ago
Needed to breathe, but it was smooth all the way across. Not too complicated, but holds up great on its own or with red meat or butter heavy foods. Solid buy. — 10 years ago
Honestly I was very impressed with this wine. The softness and simplicity paired amazingly with my slow roasted veal fettuccine. The nose fills with ripe fruits but the palate itself is very subtle. Not complicated, and still ever so enjoyable. — 10 years ago
Yummy California "winter" wine (75 degrees). Clean, fresh and bright. Not particularly complicated, but perfect for the moment, and quite well made. — 11 years ago
Very good but yet to find the right pairing for food. Hints of vanilla and blueberries. Quite tannic but hints of oak.. Kind of complicated... — 11 years ago
Nothing too complicated, just a great drinking chianti for pizza — 11 years ago
Very nice and pleasant. Seems more complicated than New Zealand SB 2015 — 8 years ago
Fragrant flowery yet leathery nose. Light bodied, taste notes of currants, earth, and oak. A quite complicated wine, very very nice. — 8 years ago
Pale gold color with very appealing aromas of apple, orange zest, hazelnut complicated by a chalky minerality. On the palate, the mousse is delicate and creamy, but the wine itself leans toward medium-full bodied. It is vibrant and balanced with apple, orange zest, hazelnut, and hints of honey and quince flavors with some time in the glass. There is a lingering finish with an appealing chalky minerality. Blend of composed of 70% Chouilly Grand Cru Chardonnay, with the balance being a combination of Tauxieres and Epernay Pinot Noir. 2004 Brut Prestige. Wonderful value Vintage Champagne from a highly regarded vintage — 9 years ago
Really complicated on these so suspect days, expose themselves with concepts such as: tradition, terroir, identity without falling into the most sinister rhetoric if not sounds just trite and hypocritical as the counterfeit currency with which even large-scale industries - supported by marketing - pays back its inattentive mass audience riding the wave of the country of origin or protected typicality. A diabolical mechanism this one for which even the most noble ideas probably the right practices and good experiences completed in the scale of centuries to human measure and not on massive industrial scale, are trivialized by sleazy slogan, emptied of meaning to be more or less surreptitious thanks to barbaric persuasion techniques and brain-washing propaganda.
Yet with the Valentini's Trebbiano you may not groped to summarize in words if not by drawing on terms so appropriate to express it. Now concerning this iconic label we've got behind it a local grape variety, a real family and a great wine that collect in a bottle the past and present story of a side of Abruzzo who claims to defeats victories and sacrifices to dominate the abuses (on and of) nature, miseries and splendours of agricultural seasons. Places, people, vision, wines such as Valentini are here to remind us how each bottle stay so proudly standing as non-reproducible beauty and fermented goodness expressing all its artisanal uniqueness and authenticity which are just that suspect to industrial wine production in manufacturing chains on standardized quantities; wines that are all equal to themselves even though wine itself is not much left at the end of the day/cycle. Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Valentini 1998 is what we have to rate right now: rusticity with class; style, purity and glory of a local grape recognized by many admirers from all over the world: act local think global this is another slogan-cliché which in this specific Valentini's wine exemple could sounds a little less false and more effective. — 10 years ago
Bubbly - v nice - not very complicated but light nice finish — 10 years ago
Is it a rose or is it a white?? Who technically cares!! It is a rare and super delicious varietal. Big aromatic nose of honeydew melon, candied apples, and wet stones with a delightful palate of pear, melon, and lightly charred balsam bbq wood . Dry crisp finish . Awesome wine try it. Great job done with a complicated grape!! — 11 years ago
So much delicious fruit, and over-delivers for the price. The slightly Burgundian finish was a pleasant surprise. — 11 years ago
Nice vinho verde...not complicated but crisp, light and refreshing. — 11 years ago
Delectable Wine

Almost fully saturated ruby. Deep, perfumed aromas of dark plum, steel, flint, charcoal and herbs. Enters bright and fresh, then steely in the middle with a savory edge to the red and blue fruit flavors. Complicated by Mediterranean herbs and a hint of tar on the long, almost austere finish. Very serious Turriga with no easy sweetness or juiciness of fruit. Forget about this in the cellar for another three or four years. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, March 2018) — 8 years ago
