On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Our conductors are David Newman and John Williams are leading a diverse program of cinematic works composed by John Williams entitled "Across The Stars: Music Of John Williams". We'll enjoy pieces from Star Wars (various episodes), Harry Potter, E.T., Memoirs of a Geisha and many others. All works to feature the violin virtuoso, Anne-Sophie Mutter, a personal favorite soloist of ours on these hallowed grounds. Mr. Williams has rearranged many of the selections today to better feature Ms. Mutter, an exciting afternoon will lay ahead. πΌπ»
Nose has mashed strawberry/banana and cut red delicious apple.
Palate has sweet strawberry, banana peel, ripe red currant and light green herb notes.
The wine is 100% DeChaunac, a more common varietal for colder climates, like Ontario; fruit is sourced locally (FLX region) from Sheldrake Point.
The 2018 may just be the finest version of this wine to date, so juicy and expressive on the palate, just beautiful for this warm afternoon. β 7 years ago

@Chris MacLean you would like this wine. Like a Greek version of barbera good acidity and well structured β 8 years ago

Toasty, green apple nose, nice chard β 9 years ago
The Osteiner grape is a German grape variety created from crossing of Riesling and Silvaner. Despite its German roots, Rippon is perhaps the most notable producer of this variety. Nose of lemon, lime, ripe melon and white fresh florals. On the palate, fresh, clean, round and brilliant. Beautiful acidity, lemon, lime, melon, stone fruits, pear, fruit blossoms and citrus peel. Another photo of their amazing view and owner Jo Mills with my wife. Jo is such a great host with amazing passion and energy for making great wine. β 9 years ago
I really like this one. Very different- crisp and sweet without actual sweetness. Very cool. β 10 years ago
Wow, real knockout stuff. This is not domestic Muscadet - there's not much in common besides the grape. It has the bright, pure fruit but it is put together in a much fuller style, more like a white Burgundy (minus the oak) than Muscadet. I don't say Chablis because while it's an intensely mineral wine and cranked up to 11 in that department, it's not a marine minerality. The mineral element here is volcanic (and so is the soil), bringing to mind all those cliches about aromas bursting from the glass and so forth, and it's every bit as driving on the palate. β 11 years ago
Kind of like an indie band you discovered but is getting major label buzz. Still true to their roots. Fantastic. Actually better that I remember.

This is a very drinkable wine. Well β balanced. One can drink it by itself or with food. β 12 years ago
The community of Saint-EstΓ¨phe has it roots in the Gallo-Roman origins of this chateau. A blend of 78% Cab Sauv, 20% Merlot & 2% Petit Verdot. Deep Ruby with aromas of dense sweet black fruits with herb and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry, currant like, with tobacco, tar and hints of vanilla exposing mushroom notes. Well balanced, ripe textured tannins, long finish ending with earthy character. Nice, has plenty of room to develop. β 7 years ago
This time 2016 vintage & still amazing! β 7 years ago
Shows Sta. Rita Hills roots. Etherial and floral in the nose, very elegant. White pepper, dill. Stems included!!! Decent complexity. Palate is not so impressive, one dimensional right now.. Very mild acidity- rather fruity then mineral. Overall, elegant CA Pinot. Pricy. Need to visit the tasting room in Lompoc. β 8 years ago
good he to keep on hand β 8 years ago

Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner is a 4th generation winemaker from a family with farming and winemaking roots in the Napa Valley since 1906. Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot almost looks like a Cab) with aromas of ripe berries and spice notes. The palate shows rich black fruits, blackberries, plums and black cherries, vanilla spice, cedar and cacao. Rich soft tannins, firm acidity on lingering finish ending with mineral tones. Nice! β 9 years ago
Fruity and smooth. Nice for a dinner wine β 10 years ago
Notes of dark cherry, cocoa, leather,, tobacco on the nose, tannin developing, a little tight, nice but some what thin mid palate common in 2011 vintage, nice finish. β 11 years ago
Great with spicy pizza. β 12 years ago
Great for 30 β 13 years ago
Second bottle of this in as many weeks. This one was quite different than the first. Definitely a lot of VA in this one. Strong acetone smell for about the first 15 minutes but most of it eventually blew off. Less fruit-forward than the last bottle. β 7 years ago
Delicious dry wine!! I love the cost too! β 7 years ago
Best cheap cab so far! β 8 years ago

Good. Cheap. White. β 8 years ago
I still love this Pinot but the 2011 was amazing I drank at least a case. It does not have the same feel seems more heavy with darker fruit notes. β 9 years ago
A lighter nose with a palate of cranberry, strawberry and a light zesting of orange. A darker, deeper rosΓ© with a long fruity finish. β 10 years ago
Very dry, mild tannins, hints of caramel/umami in the body, crisp finish. No coarseness β 12 years ago
Boise. Great wine. Delectable didn't save. Don't remember comments. :-( β 12 years ago
Bob McDonald

The 4th and final Grand Cru from Morey Saint Denis tasted blind. Richer on the nose than the Clos Saint Denis with rose petals, raspberry and some stalky notes. On the M+ palate spicy red fruits finishing with silky tannins. Could only be a Grand Cru. In summary the MSD bracket of 4 was seamless and all rated 95 points or higher. A common theme of all of these 2016 red burgundies is that whilst they will cellar for decades many are approachable now. β 6 years ago
