Cornas Syrah 2012

Black pepper, violets, meaty, black currants, leathery and hits of mushrooms on nose and palate; medium to full body, big tannins and acidity but well balanced with a touch of aniseed on the finish — 10 years ago

Beringer Vineyards

State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1979

Hard to see in photo but a 1979 9L that Danielle Colombo shared with us and that was lovingly stored all these years by Bob Colombo. And it was amazing! Incredible acidity and balance with still a lot of fresh aromas. — 10 years ago

As soon as my nose went in the glass I was hit by an incredibly pleasant aroma that can only be attributed to a wine that has aged and matured well. Very fruit forward on the nose with a rustic yet subtle leather expression. On the palate, simply elegant. If you want to call it meaty, that's fine, but this French Syrah is incredibly smooth and wet, almost putting the "meatiness" in the background. Be careful, you could drink this whole bottle in a few minutes. It's that drinkable.
