La Réserve Michel Rolland Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2012

I'm stunned. This is like smelling a freshly opened or perfectly kept fine cigar. I've never smelled such strong tobacco in a wine before. Taste is same. Like sucking on a Cohiba. Perhaps too much, but extra points for surprise factor. It could also be alcohol and tobacco deprivation after VT, but this really was good. Gets a bit less one dimensional after ~25 minutes and I get leather too. Like good aged hooded dragon leather. — 10 years ago

Amon-Ra Barossa Valley Unfiltered Shiraz

Aerated and decanted but needs a lot more time. Cohiba 2011 Special Edition 1966: Start is cocoa powder and coffee bean then transitioning to heavy cream, leather, and cedar, Absolutely fucking brilliant. The cigar is a 10. — 10 years ago

Booker Vineyard

Pink Rosé 2013

Decent dry Grenache-based rose for a nice sunny evening with a fine cigar. Cohiba Maduro 5: Absolute magic smoke with perfect humidity and deep mellow nuttiness, leather, sandalwood, cedar, spice box. Amazing subtle complexity that holds your attention and keeps you coming back for another draw. 9.8. Thanks Mark. — 10 years ago

Château Gombaude-Guillot

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2007

Blackberry jam. Communion wine (Catholic, not Anglican). Cohiba skins. Terroir the day after it rains hard. Deep. Filthy. Reminds me of the first day I decided to punch a guy in the face for deriding my sister. Great wine for conspiring late into the evening. Or revolutions... Would be very good for revolutions. — 9 years ago

Trinity Brewing Company

Magical Brettanomyces Tour #2 Bruxellensis

Light green apple, lemon, and grassy barrel funk. A beautifully refreshing beer. The perfect foil to the unbelievable full-fat creaminess of a Cohiba Behike cigar. Magical indeed. — 10 years ago

Russian River Brewing Company

Supplication Pinot Noir Barrel Aged Ale with Cherries

Russian River Supplication 2014: Sublime deep sour cherry barrel-aged intensity. Fantastic as ever. Cohiba Biheke 56: Double hologram on the label. Smooth subtle complexity including walnut, leather, tea, caramel, cream, and something like bacon fat. Tight pack but easy draw producing prodigious amounts of supple smoke. Easily within my top ten cigars of all time. This is a 10. — 10 years ago

Awesome with a cohiba and a cool night. A bit more austere than I'm used to but a wonderful treat. My first birth year wine. — 10 years ago

Bodegas Palacio

Cosme Palacio y Hermanos Rioja Tempranillo 2001

Beautifully resolved tannins and superb structure from whatever obscure varietal (temperaniltio?) they have in that small country west of France...😏
Fantastic with a bit of slaughtered cow off the grill.
It even holds up to a Cohiba Behike 56.

Domaine Serene

Monogram Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2008

Dark inky and sexy. Light cigar notes. Think sugar tipped Cohiba. Give it time to open and enjoy over the course of a few hours to really let this wine show you what it's all about. — 12 years ago
